Yes you're right. I forgot that they extended the current series to buy time for a proper ev model. It's unfortunate that I don't like the looks of the g8x or I would want to get a last gen petrol model

Actually, I'd be extremely surprised if we ever see i5 M on the back of a BMW. That model designation would mean nothing to no one. I think we'd probably see a M5i.
...yeah,..."M5i" sounds better.

Loving the proportions on this thing—more classic BMW styling cues IMO.

It's not a car I'd ever consider due to price, weight, and modernity but it's nice to see an M car looking the business.

Previous spy pics had final production body panels for rear fenders and they were wider than the 5er for the first time ever on an M5.

In these pics the rear fender extensions looked tacked on and unintegrated into contours of the arches and don't quite flow out of the preceding panel. Presumably they might improve that for the final article. But as it stands, they don't seem that exceptional. Then again, I'd be happy to leave the histrionic widening to the RS6 folks, leaving the M5 to do the unsurpassed job of being the understated-leviathan that it's always done with such aplomb.

Kinda makes me think of Toyota Avalon with that lower opening. Idk. I'm sure it'll look good in the end though
