There are exceptions. About 3 weeks ago, I pulled into Home Depot parking lot, with wife and daughter aboard, and happened to have the wife's RAV4. I noticed a young couple, a few parking spots away with a flatbed cart, approaching a very small econobox car. They had a large box on the flatbed, with a snow blower in it. From my perspective, I could tell right away, that there was no possible way in Hell that they were going to fit this box or even its contents without the box, into this car. On top of that, the car was loaded with other groceries and household goods! Plus a child seat and their son. Even if the car was empty, it would not fit. I got out of the truck and said right away "Looks like you might need a little help there." Long story short, it turns out they lived only 4 miles from the store. I easily loaded the box in my RAV4 and followed them to their house and helped him carry it into their garage. They were so overwhelmed by my act of kindness, that the wife tried to pay me $10, which I refused. My daughter took the $10, which I pulled out of her hand and gave back. She said it was for gas money. "Pshha, for 4 miles? Keep it." Ok, so that made me feel good. But I'm hoping more so, that it made a positive impression on my daughter that she will never forget. All hope is not lost, believe it or not. But I agree, it seems to be a waning philosophy. |

Last year when I drove through the shit show of snow in NC for 2 hours to get to work, stranded old couple trying to get a loose old golden lab in their truck on the median. I Stopped, picked the dog up and put it in their truck. 15 cars drove past. Seriously, what the fuck? Two seconds of help. People never cease to amaze. |

American "pints" are what gets to me when I reflect upon life. I mean, everything else in America seems to be on this trend of "super size anything"....why not do the same for the pint?
I mean, at least make it as large as a Canadian pint...please? It just bothers me to order a pint and then receive something where I feel I'm getting ripped off...even though it is admittedly markedly cheaper.... |

There's a "Canadian Pint"? Really? Isn't it an Imperial (as in English) pint? Not trying to be an ass, but I've not heard it called that before...
A pint has always been 16 liquid ounces to me. 20 liquid ounces to a Brit. Troy ounce, on the same note messes me up...

It got to me this morning when I said "thank you" to the waitress and she replied "no problem". Wrong answer! The correct answer is "you're welcome". It shouldn't be a friggin problem because it's your friggin job to bring me my f*CK*NG food.

Actually, I would almost prefer that they say "my pleasure" in that case. As you said, it is their job.

I've been asking the same thing. I guess it's some new appreciation feature.
