Good day for me too but in the opposite way - Bedrock sent out a weather hold notification so I will now have a month or two to make room for the stuff I ordered from their latest release, still have a case of Burgs and Germans coming this week from Liquid Culture to squeeze in there somewhere...

I got my FAA Class I Medical back yesterday after being grounded for the past year and a half.

That is a BIG freaking deal.

I've had this laid down for the past 18 months, waiting on the day I got back to flight status.

There are two others still waiting in the rack-- one will be opened after I fully requal to Captain and the other will be opened after I requal as a Line Check Pilot.

As soon as I got off the phone with my doc, I texted my wife (who was in a meeting with her boss and his boss) "CALL ME RIGHT THE F*CK NOW".

She left the meeting, left the room to call me, and got asked if something bad had happened when she went back into the meeting since she was in tears. She explained that they were tears from being so happy that I got my wings back.

She brought me a bottle of Cristal after work.

And her boss had a bottle of Moet Chandon delivered to the house that evening.

And? I'm **STILL** walking on air.

My wife, myself and my oldest friend and his wife all went down to the Broadmoor in Colorado Springs for the weekend.

We brought the bottle of Cristal that my wife bought me to celebrate getting my FAA Medical back.

Terrifyingly expensive, but terrifyingly good.

From a couple nights ago. Decent, but something on the nose put me off a bit. I’m spending my wine dollars on something else next time.

AXR proprietary red. This was fruity and dry. It’s a nice blend.

K&L right now has some tremendous blow-out/close-out cabs. I have not tried any of them, but based on what I know about the winemakers and/or vineyards, and the legions of Cali cab fans here, I thought I'd point them out in this thread. M-Squared (from the Martini family old-vine block at Monte Rosso vyd) and Chiron (winemaker Bobby Moy), various vintages/bottlings, marked down to $25-$30 from much higher "MSRP"s. Head on over to their website for details.

Yeah- Pine Ridge has been hit or miss over the years.

Lately, they seem to be trending towards "miss".

Our BFF's are charter members of their vineyard and wine club. Historically, when we've flown out to visit them, it's never been a problem to drive up, get a tasting, bring a lunch have bottle of their wine in the garden and chat with the GM (and maybe have a few pours from their library/vertical collections).

Now? Much, MUCH more corporate. The "small vineyard" vibe is more or less gone, and you can tell that their corporate overlords have changed things a lot- not necessarily for the better. Charter member since when we *started* the winery and wine club? Yeah-- we don't care. Screw you and your loyalty to our vineyard.

Best $26 Chianti I’ve had. Mildly acidic and very dry. A bit on the bold side.

But this is an exception: I was recently given a glass of the 2022 Kirkland Signature Series Rutherford Cabernet Sauvignon without being told what it was...when I found out, I was blown away. I'm not saying this is indistinguishable from a $70 Stags Leap, but this will compete with some great wines in the $30 - $45 price point. And for $18!!!

So I'm recommending this for a weekday drink; pair it with sirloins or heavy appetizers. Incredible value!
I can say the same for Sam's Club (Members Mark) Oakville Napa Valley Cabernet. Similar price point to the Kirkland.

NY Eve paired with ribeye. Great wine at a $30ish price point. Soft on the palate and Smokey.
