For drip, Technivorm Moccamaster. If not, then Oxo Barista Brain. If not, then Bonavita Coffee Maker BV1900TS. I

It always makes me cringe when I see people with a blade grinder for coffee, it makes such an inconsistent grind and can negatively affect the coffee taste. I encourage everyone to get a conical burr grinder if they are going to grind their own beans each time, which is also the best flavor route. I have a Baratza Virtuoso which may be a bit overkill if you just do drip, but it can expand to an entry level espresso grinder for some machines if you decide to try that later.
I have a Technivorm Moccamaster and love it, been using it for 16 years now. It is a little on the pricier side (little over $300) and doesn't have any fancy features like timers for the morning but it is rated one of the best drip machines if you do any amount of research or watching reviews. To give you an idea if you have five minutes to spare: If you don't want to spend that much, my second choice for drip would be the Bonavita. For espresso I have a fully automatic Delonghi Magnifica XS which can do shots or americanos which mimic drip coffee pretty close. I did a ton of research on espresso machines and at $500 on Costco's website (it comes and goes with being in stock) this is a really good bang for your buck. The only reason I came to know about this machine is at the large corporate office I work at, we had the same Delonghi and it took a beating from about 12 people five days a week for years. When you say your friend's Delonghi was too much work I'm wondering which model because all I do is hit one button and my drink comes out. Beans and water are already loaded in it. It's funny you said french press because I always felt too lazy to use that properly and then have to disassemble and clean it . I thought Nespresso was cool until I tried a well made cup of coffee. Now I sold mine and have no desire to try another. I know the upfront cost seems steep but over time if you drink a lot of coffee the pods get pretty expensive. Pictures are of my equipment. |

While mine isn't the most sophisticated machine, I like it because I'm the only coffee drinker in the house and i usually have a cappuccino and maybe one cup of coffee. This makes a cup, or more if you use a bigger mug and it's not one of those K-Cup things. So no wasted coffee and it brews fairly quick.

I've tried pour over and french press, but they are too much work. My wife drinks decaf so I'm the only real coffee drinker in the house so Keurig is convenient.
I buy whole beans (right now my favorite is SF Bay French Roast) and grind them and use the reusable pod. I descale and change the filter every couple of months and use filtered water and I'm totally happy. |

My mum still has her Pyrex percolator. Did you also have the metal grid you had to put under it so it didn't come in direct contact with the element? BTW, I'd rather drink instant than pods.

Right now my go to is Starbucks Nitro Cold Brew with Sweet Cream. If I can duplicate that at home, then I will be golden! Not sure where and if you can get a nitro machine for consumer use or if it's just for commercial use right now.

I have a full espresso setup - Rocket R58 and a Rocket Fausto grinder. Makes fantastic coffee - my guests rave about it and several have started ordering their beans from my shop, and have even asked about where they can buy the same equipment.

Had a Technivorm Moccamaster for many years since it was one of the only SCA endorsed drip machines back in the day. After it died, I replace it with a Breville Precision. It still makes an excellent cup but has a ton more features, adjustable PID and brew rates, makes cold brew, and had an auto start timer.
I still do pour overs occasionally but after having kids, really don't have time for in anymore. The Kalita Wave is my favorite pour over brewer and the only one that I still have, but used to have a Chemex, V60, and generic beehive brewers that have long since been replaced. |

This is his machine. He needs to feed the beans with his fingers. Auto feed does not work well. Make 2 shots. Froth the milk and all I want to do I press a button. And add milk. Yeah I’m lazy.

Some of these machines are amazing!
Regular drip coffee makers are what I use - the old Cuisinart tank. Have often thought about getting a Delonghi espresso machine, but I fear I'll stop using it after the first month or two (that's what happened with the French press) I don't grind my own beans though - I just buy Black Rifle pre-ground coffee (lots of hype, but their coffee is rather decent, and their videos and coffee names make me chuckle) |
