A close call unlike the Deep Purple which clearly counts, but I'm going to exclude Blondie from the answer set, thus preserving "Subaru"'s place on the list, albeit with a different song.

Another close one as I love J. Geils but let's call this as one that got insufficient airplay and thus also exclude it from the answer set, and keep "Bowling" on the list for a much more well-known classic track.

Two more I'll say are outside the classic AOR answer set.

Both of the ones I'm looking for are still in heavy rotation on appropriate stations.

Had to look that one up - fun tune. But the web says it has "fowlin'" and "roarin'", but not "bowling."

That's actually not the one I'm looking for either, but I can't DQ that one, so "bowling" will have to come off the list for the future.

I still consider the one I'm looking for to be in more heavy rotation over the years than OAG.

All correct answers above except as previously noted. Well done!

We are down to just two, albeit "bowling" has been identified, just not in the song I'm looking for:

61. Bowling
77. Kippers

Monday back to work bonus while you are pondering the above, the easiest "one-worder" of them all and the one that inspired me to attempt a list of one-word name that tunes:

Bonus - Pompatus

Hints for "bowling" - there is no mention of the act of bowling, and nothing is rhymed with "bowling" in the song. To make it a two word clue, which should help - "bowling pin."

If no one gets it today, I'll give the answer tomorrow.

Of course, Truckin' - Grateful Dead, "Busted, down on Bourbon Street
Set up, like a bowling pin..."

I figured that would do it!

Well done, and we are complete. I'm back at work in the real world but may reappear in this thread now and again with some new puzzlers. In the meantime, I'm happy to play guesser if anyone else wants to DM a few.
