It is. The original Kansas City BBQ sustained serious damage from a fire in June 2008, rebuilt and open again in November.

Yeah, it wasn't quite 40 years ago. The restaurant sign says 40, but I was thinking it came out after I was done with active duty, and that happened in 1985. But yep, the Top Gun bar. Not quite the same as in the movie with all the stuff on the walls. And as ezaircon4jc said, the rebuild after a fire surely changed things a bit.

I rode/drove there a few times mainly for the Christmas market.

I actually went on the guided tour in the cellars. Quite interesting.
And yes, they brewed beer by the same principles as the Reinheitsgeboot there, approx 200 years before Reinheitsgeboot was introduced in 1516,

The cellars are approx 25.000 sqm and was also used as bombshelters during WWII.
At some point approx 60.000 ppl out of the city's population of approx 100.000 ppl were down there.......
