Just out of curiosity I went on Tirerack and priced out the cost of replacing the stock run flats on my car versus a set of PS4S go flats. The stock run flats cost a couple hundred more.... hate these things.

Tires are already listed on TireRack. These tires should not even be exposed to cold temps. A true warm weather tire only. A bit too extreme for me.

Don't get me wrong, I like my MPSS, but I used to love them much more when I was in Hong Kong - the weather was completely different. Here they're not gripping that well with cold weather.
Yes, EVO

http://www.superstreetonline.com/how...-track-tested/

What came out of these drives is the fact that the Continental's new SportContact 6 is the best road-legal non-track-day spec tire I have tested by a noticeable margin, and its consistency and user-friendly handling enabled me to extract the optimum performance from each car I drove that day. So while they may not be able to reinvent the wheel, Continental has certainly proven it knows how to make one of the best ultra high performance road tires money can buy.

And Auto Bild (German So a link to the English Summary)

http://www.minimumtread.com/tire-blo...tire-benchmark

Recently the reputable European magazine Auto Bild pitted the new Continental SportContact 6 against the Michelin Pilot Super Sport in a direct comparison test, and the results were pretty astounding.

The SportContact 6 proved superior to the Pilot Super Sport in both dry and wet conditions. The SportContact 6 was the quicker of the two tires on track, and the evaluators preferred the Continental's steering feedback and handling balance as well.

While this is only one comparison test, the result represents a departure from nearly all performance tire comparison test of the past few years. The Pilot Super Sport has bested every other street performance tire (especially) in terms of track performance, and so the fact that the SportContact 6 was able to beat the Michelin at its own game, so to speak, is noteworthy indeed.

http://www.tyrereviews.co.uk/Article...-Tyre-Test.htm

2016 AutoBild UHP Summer Tyre Test

The test we've all been waiting for is here, and it's round one to Continental.

The new Continental Sport Contact 6 was tested against the reigning performance tyre king, the Michelin Pilot Super Sport, and the result was surprising.

The previous Continental has always had the edge on the Michelin in the wet, but new the new Continental tyre also has the better dry grip and steering feel, at least according to this test.

The one area they didn't test was wear, which is where Michelin usually claws back some marks, but for now the new Sport Contact 6 looks to be every bit the tyre Continental have promised us!

Does anybody know if Michelin are going to do an OEM "*" version of the PS4S tyre like they do on the PSS?

That's not what Matt said in his review released yesterday that you quoted in post #157.

Said they were pretty similar overall with no major difference, especially the need to go out and immediately replace your MPSS.

Magic 8 ball says that's a given. However, don't expect it immediately.

Based on some f8x forum posts, Some peeps changing out their * versions of MPSS on 437m/666m wheels for the generic MPS4S might be in for a rude awakening.

Furthermore, it's known from European Labeling that the MPSS * versions don't perform as well as the generic MPSS in things like wet conditions.

since you are wont to nitpick..

1- the " kick butt" is an exaggeration of course.

2- I don't place a TON of Value in Matt Farahs opinions.. they are nice to read but... hey.. that's all. Plus.. he wasn't able to make a direct comparison of one tire to the other. Driving home with MPSS on a Ford Focus isn't the same as driving around for 30 minutes in a different make and model vehicle. hardly scientific.

The simple fact is the new tire is better...Tire Tech is simply improving by leaps and bounds over the last decade.. The Hankook RS-3 was THE hot tire for the street about 4 years ago and now it's practically totally washed up.

I wouldn't go ripping off a set of MPSS just because the 4s is available.

However.. since the 4s was compared by Michelin against the CSC6.... the test results even from Michelin show it to be just mildly superior to the CSC6.. certainly M2 buyers need not be up in arms about MPSS vs the CSC6.. yet forum posts show buyers nearly jumping off cliffs because the car is shod with contis .

Thanks for info, what do you mean about Euro Labelling? I was under impression the * version was the better bet on M Cars than standard MPSS - are you saying * is inferior in wet and identical in dry to the non * one?
Any the guys running 437s and 666s haven't been impressed?

I'm mostly irked at the lifetime of contis as opposed to the other, that's the only reason I feel jipped . But on the other hand I can hopefully get into these quicker lol

I still don't know where I could buy the SC6 in the USA. Each time this comes up I ask where people are getting this tire and I haven't seen a straight answer. Tire rack shoes 3 sizes. If they carry the tire then why only 3 unless that is only what is available in the US.

I suspect the M2 have ContiSportsContact 5P. I'd be pissed with those as well, though some f8x owners appear to recently received SC6 on 437m.

Unless I misread, Michelin did have MPSS and MPS4S on same cars for comparison, but then again, I might have misread that.

Again, as grip was weakness of MPSS to even MPSS, and all independent head to head tests shows that SC6 beat MPSS in wet and dry grip, that Michelin did not post those results (only wet and dry braking where Michelin claims to win by 31 inches) I really cannot put a lot of faith in those numbers until we see independent tests not controlled by Michelin.

I just got another set in today for someone that asked me for assistance. Ordered last Monday.

One person asked for assistance and flaked out on me (i will not be so trusting in future) so I put the set in the F30 classifieds, however believe they are sold tonight.

What size you want?

There are a few of us running SC6. Have been for a while. More everyday.

Ya lol that guy has to lose some weight before weighting in on some cars. I had not watched his stuff after watching a random video on YouTube last year.

Not saying it isn't a better bet on M cars. It is what BMW wanted for the cars. Take that however you will.

Wet braking isn't as good on MPSS * compared to generic MPSS. How that translates to other differences isn't know as that is one of the few spec required by EU law, as I am sure you know.

There is a UK BMW Forum I stumbled on about 4 months ago who's name you might know, but I lost my bookmark, and they had a very detailed posting with some Michelin people about the exact differences in the generic and * versions, such as compound etc. The forum posted this explained the difference in wet braking on the EU label between the 2.

Also the bead width of some of generic MPSS sizes are standard where the MPSS * are smaller to fit on the 437m/666m smaller width rims. Generally speaking, 295 and especially 305 should be on larger width rims, according to most specs and posts in the f8x forums.
