couldn't agree with you more. the first X1 I saw in person was a Strom Bay Metallic. it looked like overcast dark grey/blue sky to me. the next time I saw it, it look just blue. when I drove it back into the dealership's service bay after a test drive, it appeared just grey to me under the warm LED lights.

it's almost the same way with my own X1. When I showed up last week for the delivery, I saw it for the first time. The new car delivery room's lights were off. It did not look silver to me. In fact, I thought it was dark grey. They turned the lights on and it became a very shinny silver. I drove it outside and it somehow looked silver with a hint of very slight green under the bright sunlight.

My Portimao Blue is maybe not as extreme as other colors, but the website does not represent it well. In bright light (which we get a lot of here) it's a very vibrant, almost cobalt blue. In dim lighting it's much more subdued, almost navy blue, and at night it can sometimes be mistaken for black. Under fluorescent lighting it seems even lighter.

I kind of regret ordering M Sport with Alcantara seating surface and Eucalyptus wood trim, with a Space Silver Metallic exterior... they don't really match well. The blue contrast stitching on the Sesatec material next to the wood trim on the door looked a little weird.

I'm actually considering having the wood taken out and replaced with regular black trim or aluminum trim.

NickysFirstBimmer I was actually responding to BMWTORONTO123 who ordered Eucalyptos over Oyster interior.
But if you don‘t like wood with Alcantara then get it changed! You likely have the car for a few years and if there‘s something always bugging you, you won‘t enjoy it.
Maybe carbon trim becomes available as an accessory?! Maybe even alcantara?

I've already had my X1 for 7 days, so it's not possible to change. It's not like I bought it from CarMax(?) with a free refund policy.

Also... I think it's probably because I've never had a car with unpolished(open pore) wood trim like on newer BMWs.... without the clearcoating, they feel rough, just like real wood. The blue contrast stitching doesn't help.

On the other hand, I do absolutely love the exterior of my new X1 with M Sport trim.

Fully understand that you cannot exchange the car, but those trim pieces should easily come off. (I‘d have it done by BMW dealer to not mess with your new car.)
Maybe it‘s growing on you. If not you can still swap the trim.

It looks nice honestly, not my taste as I don’t like wood in general but the color here is smart. Congrats!

Looks stunning, exactly the same spec looks wise as the wifes new motor but hers is a 25e. Did they say what the delay was in the end? Suppose it doesn't matter now you have it.
