Have no issues at all with a conflict...if this lady gets $1 per ice cream (handing people an ice cream) That's $40 per hour. These are minimum wage jobs for a reason.

Mister Manners was part of a street interview this morning on the local NYC TV news. He mentioned that he recently did a TED talk on tipping, and the recent "guilt tipping" that has become common.

Here is a CNBC interview that he did in May on this topic:

You're in Cali - I think it's a recent law change that you have to ask.

No. Servers get paid very low and make up their wages with tips. I will tip well for terrific service.

I have always been a great tipper. My and my GF always make a game of tipping someone exceptionally well (100%-200%) 1-2 times a month when we find someone who does a fantastic job. But they more they "demand" it the less I feel like it is my choice and is now required - I give less. If it is on the bill - that is all they get - period. Where I might have given 20-25% - if they have 15-18% on there - they just lost tip.

I hate this culture we are moving into where everyone "deserves" more - instead of learning how to "earn" more. I used to enjoy tipping, now not so much.

200%? Seriously? It's already $150 for a lunch for a family of 4, you're gonna drop $450?

I suppose it depends on where someone takes their family to lunch.

Basic pub, like real basic, it's $150 here.

4 x Burgers @ $20 plus tax plus tip = $110
2 x Adult drinks = $35
2 x Kids drinks = $10

$155.

this is going to really challenge yalls thinking.

There really should be a tip jar in the pharmacy...now you guys will cry ethics all over the place.

So should you tip you pharmacist, nurse, hell why not doctor. no matter what your service will be better if you are a tipper.

Doctors, pharmacists, nurses and medical office support staff make a lot better hourly wage than service staff. Waiters and waitresses make less than minimum wage and count on tips to make their wage. So with great service I am glad to tip.

I never tip for take out... remember, the tip is for the service whilst sitting not for cooking.

At a restaurant, always 20% if good service.

If just ordering at a bar and getting a drink, you're getting 1 or 2 dollars if your lucky.

Anything else, Starbucks etc is absurdity... it is not my job to pay your employers lack of wages... they should get rid of all of this and go to standard hourly wages for all service workers.

My buddy's 16 year old son just got a job at a local CC washing dishes for $18/hr. Service jobs aren't intended to be careers.

You are an enigma then since those two things are mutually exclusive.
