Yep a lot less. The Veyron weighs 4000lb's, that's a lot for a supercar, but really isn't all that bad this day in age. Considering my 335d is at 3800lb's, and the Challengers are 4200lb's.

AWD and 1200hp still counts for a bit in the 1/4mi times. I used a Veyron just as a reference to how fast 9.6s really is, coming from a RWD <1000hp car. I am no defendant of the Veyron at all.

1) Silly Price
2) Silly Maintanence Costs
3) Silly Extremes (top speed) that will never be used by owners
4) Silly Weight (albeit this has to do with stability but takes away from handling)

Now before anyone crucifies me as this car is not for me or not for anyone rich... well that's obvious... but... when owners no longer maintain the cars as they should and replace with different wheels and tires as has already happened and instead tow the vehicle to events rather than drive it as its cheaper... then it becomes a silly car. It's a great car from a technological perspective (or rather was in 2004-2005) but it's not a car that has any real world usage or ownership for anyone. It's a use, rinse and get rid of car... and my bet is that all of them will end up in museums in due time. These more modern cars like the P1 at least showcase future tech, can handle and look good... this one never did any of those... it was an experiment and it will end up as such. Numerous owners have sold them and replaced them instead with 3 other exotics.

Yeah but think of it this way.. The Veyron went into production in 2005(Probably drawn up late 90s, early 2000s with the tech of the time), 10yrs ago. I think once the replacement comes out its going to kill everything for a while. It wasn't until recently you had "production hypercars" that are as fast if not faster than the Veyron.

It should be interesting once the replacement comes out. A new "King" will be crowned.

The McLaren F1, to me, was the car that started this "hypercar" term. That is the car I would take over the One:1, P1, 918, Aventador, 918, LaFerrari, etc.

The Veyron continued it when it was made and went a step further by adding some luxury to it. Why does the car weigh 4k lbs? Look at the engine, all the coolers, its AWD drive train and the luxury it has. The technology that made the car was outstanding when it was first debuted to the public but now....its just another car that is being surpassed by new, lighter, faster, better cars.

No one can say the Veyron was/is garbage, if it wasn't for Bugatti MAKING this car. I assure you, the LaFerrari, P1, 918, etc would NOT be what they are today. Nor would Koenigsegg have been the company they are today.

Keep in mind that none of the companies that you mentioned followed the legacy of the Veyron. Even the ones that focused on top speed elected to do so by focusing on a lighterweight, better handling chassis. None of these current cars are built remotely in the way the Veyron was... There is even nothing that luxurious about a Veyron other than high quality leather and ac... It has none of the interior toys that even an Acura Rl of the time had (exxageration but you know what I am saying). The car had a goal... and that was to be a top speed record holder... well if the Mclaren f1 built 10 years earlier wasn't slower by only 20 mph, then maybe it would be more impressive. The Laferrar, p1 and so forth followed the legacy of the f1... none followed the heavy chassis of the Veyron because I guess everyone realized that was a bad idea. It was an excercise and at that it was good.

Keep in mind that this was back in 2005 when it was started. What luxurious features were in cars those days? But what is your definition of luxury? A fully loaded 7 series? A fully loaded CLS? Or a ridiculous custom, built to order Rolls with a wine cooler in the back? I wouldn't want every single luxury item those have in a hypercar. These cars are made for the speed and raw power that people can only dream of having while it still being street legal.

The Veyron does now have bluetooth, NAV, backup camera, etc. But so does a $20k car.....there is truly nothing luxurious anymore other THAN the custom, hand made items and attention to DETAIL that comes with the Veyron or ANY other car in that ridiculous price range. That is what LUXURY truly is with THESE hypercars, not the bluetooth, heated/vented seats, blind spot this, blind spot that, active cruise, a wine cooler in the boot....none of that.

Raw power, hand built, one on one detail, hand made items and yes, the ridiculous price tag. All of these cars are awesome and the Veyron helped set a GOAL for ALL of these cars. When did the first "rival" of the Veyron show up? Think about that.

Think about this. There is always a reason these cars are being made right now. Not just because someone wants to make a statement, like the McLaren F1 (and no one came close to that car until the Veyron, well Koenigsegg did), but because they want to outclass or make something "better" than another manufacturer right now. This is a car wars and we're living in a great time now with these cars.
