Latest Rumors on BMW Z4, 2 Series GC, X2, X7, 6 Series, 9 Series (Automobile Mag)
BIMMERPOST NEWS Latest Rumors on BMW Z4, 2 Series GC, X2, X7, 6 Series, 9 Series Automobile Magazine shares what they believe are the future of several upcoming BMW models. Summary: • X2 coming next year • X7 comes late 2018 • Super-luxurious edition of X7 comes 2019 • No hatchback 1 Series for next generation, replaced by 2 Series Gran Coupe instead in 2019 • No Z4 Coupe variant coming, only soft-top roadster model • 9 Series waiting for green light. Would come as four-door coupe with twin-turbo 6 cylinder paired to two electric motors for 500hp combined. Would come in 2020 and projected to sell no more than 8,000 units. • 3 Series GT could possibly merge with next gen 4 Series Gran Coupe • Project iX, a 3 Series electric hatchback could be on the way • Next gen 6 Series expected in 2018/2019 will reportedly lose the convertible version and presumably also the Gran Coupe version if the 9 Series is produced, leaving only the Coupe version. Whatever 6 Series model(s) remain, it will lose some 500 pounds using BMW's CLAR platform, have optional air suspension, rear-wheel steering, and be powered by BMW's quad-turbo inline 6 cylinder making 550hp, all to help it take on the 911.Also see our upcoming models timeline/info page for additional details on some of these models and more. |

Is there any confirmed news about the F15 LCI?
Seems like all the magazines talks about the F15 chassis being cut short but I have not seen anything with solid proof of this. Alan |

The 6 series GC is gorgeous though. The only GC that looks good done by BMW. Sorry but the 4GC is just ugly.

As for future models, it looks like the 6er is looking like the BMW to get - too bad it carries close to a six-figure price tag after all is said and done, at least here in Canada. |

Always funny to see marketing bla bla. Apparently the 3GT is a good seller cars much better than the Touring in that case why is it merging into the 4GC?

Can't see a reason why they would not build a 6 GC, to build the 9 series? Lol they are in totally different markets. And the GC actually outsold both the coupe and convertible.
3 series GT and GC merging..this can't be good. The 4gc already it's a bit toward GT with its rear hatch. Z series are definitely something no one seems to know what's going on there. All in all, I call this report BS. There's no evidence to back up what they're claiming. And Given the fact that BMW just thinks about covering all niches possible (except sportscars), I find very unlikely that they would cancel those GCs that sell very well, and not make a Z5 coupe would be a mistake. |

I don't belive the 1 Series Hatch will be dumped, no way. Sells way to good in Europe. They are everywhere.
Also don't believe the 6 Convertible and GC will not be continued. You see a lot more GC than actual Coupes in Europe. As said before the 9 Series will be another market. |

Haha that "arguably" should be bolded and italicized for emphasis! In all seriousness though I feel like "merge" probably means "delete and replace with" -- i.e. just discontinuing 3GT and continuing with 4GC, which would make the most sense

Hmm i am very interested in the 2 series GC :P that would be so nice! Or an X2 considering the X1 is a bit on the small side to be called full blown SUV.

So by "Z4" we are talking about the successor to the E89 correct? (also been referred to as a "Z5"?) That's a bummer, was very excited about a new M coupe type car.
Interested to see where the 3GT/4GC merged design lands in the lineup (and of course if there is an M!)

The Z is getting screwed over again...The E89 could've been great but BMW didn't push through with it.

Mercedes made the same mistake with the SLK, I think the death for both of them was going to the hard top, should have left that to a more expensive model. Personally I think the Z4 should keep the folding hardtop and not offer a coupe, but they should introduce a Z2 soft top RWD and Z2/Z3 RWD Coupe (along with a Z2M/Z3M of both with the M2 engine). Or they should make the Z4/Z5 even more high end and compete against the Jaguar F Type with them, Coupe and convertible, along with a M version (with M5/M6 engine to compete with Jaguar's R). |
