Dropped in on EAG (Enthusiast Auto Group)
Have a business trip in Cincinnati and after a work dinner I put enthusiast auto group in waze for kicks and saw that the dealership was only a few miles away. I have drooled over their cars online for awhile now, so pretty cool to check them out live. It was after 7pm so they were closed, but they had lots of inventory on their lot. Saw lots of great cars...z3m, z4m, e30m3, e46m3, etc...the cars they have look like the real deal. Incredible shape given their age...leather looks great, no door dings, no curb rash etc...I know their cars are pricey, but I was pretty impressed!!

They do seem to have the best cars, and obviously people are buying. Curious to know, how was the appearance of their facility?
Rumor has it they sold that 76 mile 1991 Sport Evo M3 for $400K |

I'm heading up to Indiana this weekend. I was hoping I can stop by on my way. They always have some beautiful examples.
Would love to check out some of those E90's on their lot. Some cars are outrageously priced but some also seem fairly reasonable. |

The facility didn't match the car...not a great part of town, building looked run down...not sure what I was expecting but I envisioned something nicer.

Lots of controversy about EAG on M5board, but personally I like the model. It seems that almost everyone who has purchased from them (or sold to them) is satisfied. Sure, it's less expensive if you can purchase from a private sale, but the turnkey approach works for me.
On the other hand, Bring a Trailer is another option...I wonder how much this 2003 E39 M5 with 16K miles will go for... http://bringatrailer.com/listing/2003-bmw-m5-8/

I have been talking with Eric, the owner at EAG, for a bit about trying to get a Sport Evo. I didn't inquire about the 75mile example (I would like to actually be able to drive it from time to time), but he did tell me that the 50k mile example that they had sold for ~$250k. While searching the Euro sites for SE's, the avg examples over there tend to sell for $100-175k, so it's not too crazy at $250k given that they only ever buy the best of the best...and all the overseas shipping, import, etc would all be handled by them.

Per an earlier thread I posted, I'm thinking of going old school for my next "weekend" car...leaning e46 M3 or Z4M. After seeing both of these on their lot (and how mint they looked), I will def keep them in mind when I am ready.

You won't be disappointed (well, depending on what you are looking for). You'll probably feel more connected in these "analog" cars, and the S54 engine, while it doesn't have a lot of low down torque, can be wrung out to 8K RPM regularly at legal/near legal speeds. For me, perfect characteristics for a weekend car.

I'm dropping by tomorrow morning. Very excited this will work out and not add any unnecessary driving on my way to south bend.

I LOVE EAG! They bailed me out on a part I needed and are always a pleasure to deal with. As far as it being in a crummy part of town that's hogwash, not a bad area at all, just a bunch of hard working people live around there and very industrial. I would have no worries about buying from eag and plan to when the time comes. I have found their prices to be a tad high but I have another BMW specialist I like to use too when needed. If you ever go back check out The Root Beer Stand, it's right down the street and is a relic of time gone by.

Oh, and for you 2 enthusiasts, they happen to have a LBB M2 in the prime corner spot right now for a fairly reasonable price

They seem like crooks but hey there's always a market for overpriced cars, just as there will be for the $500 Big Baller shoes from an unproven Rookie.

My 2003 mint M5 is an EAG car, which I bought from a close friend. 60k miles, again, mint. EAG put 19" SSR rims on it, since changed to custom HREs and when inquiring if EAG wanted to buy car back, they said not without stock rims.... kind of lame.

I get my service work (what I don't DIY) and like them. Also agree this isn't a bad part of time, just industrial. I find most of what they have listed a little high and some really high but if I was selling used cars I would try to do exactly what they do so I don't blame them. The "they are crooks" is a laughable. They have good cars at higher than standard prices, not a secret, not anything I see wrong with it.
I try to get the most I can for what I sell, why shouldn't they?

Stopped by. Couldn't have been more pleased with this place.
Unbelievable amount of M cars on the lot. Talked with the owner Evan for a bit and he offered to show us their offsite warehouse for the ultra rare or low mileage vehicles. It is clear that he loves what he does. I wouldn't hesitate to buy from here in the future. I've had my eye on this E90 for a while and he was kind enough to open it up and let me have a seat. I only wish the sun could have come out so that I could have been able to get a better experience of the Melbourne red. |
