OFFICIAL: Photoshop Tips, Tricks, and Techniques
Okay... I've searched and only found one thread that died rather quickly concerning Photoshop tips and tricks.
I see so many great photoshopped pics on this board, and like many of you out there, I want to learn to mod them better. <---- mod... So far, I by far use Levels to modify the images, because it's pretty easy to do so. Anyways, for you Photoshop gurus, can you please add your tips, tricks, and techniques so that we too can produce some outstanding shots of our E9X's? Thanks.

Did you not read through the post? The other one never really got going and died very quickly, quite some time ago.

Two tools that anyone who photoshops should learn is clone stamp and healing brush. Using it is a bit complicated so i'll let you all mess around and play with it yourself but these are easily the 2 best tools you will ever use in photoshop.

These tools can turn this – Into this – Also, selective color and replace color works very well as well. Curves can also dramatically alter an image. PS is great

MS Paint does not have even 1% the capabilities that photoshop has. It really cant do much. |

Auto levels, auto contrast, auto color.
Try duplicating the layer, and adjusting the layer properties to something you like. Take the duplicated layer and adjust it. Heres an example of an before and after of a quick photoshop edit. To get a crisper picture, you can use FILTER -> Sharpen on the background layer. AFTER The possibilities with photoshop is unlimited, you can do a lot of things if you know how to use it. The owner of this car, I hope you don't mind me using it as a photoshop example. ________ The Cliff Condos Pattaya Last edited by Mach@M-Force_Design; 08-31-2011 at 04:36 AM.. |

Autolevel/color/contrast are sometimes good beginning places but autocolor sometimes goes horribly wrong.
For sharpening, unsharp mask (under the same Sharpen menu Mach pointed to) is your friend for sharpening. Sharpen and Sharpen More sometimes do the trick but if you find that you need more control, go for Unsharp Mask. I use it almost exclusively after resizing an image. The Exposure and Shadow/Highlights tools are also very helpful but tweaking levels and contrast afterwards can sometimes undo what was achieved with them. I'm a semi-noob with PS so I can't give great explainations behind all the tools I use in PS but at least I can point you to some of the MANY available tools so that you can start messing with them. |

+1 for some of the stuff stated above. If you are looking to sharpen, dont use "sharpen" or "sharpen more" tool. Just use unsharp mask. It gives you a lot more control and you dont get that over sharpened look.

Search "you suck at photoshop" on youtube. Informational tutorials and hilarious at the same time. Very entertaining.
