If I was going Porsche, I would get a 911. Depending on how practical you need it to be, but you already have your wife's Cayenne for convenience. I'm 40 too btw

Nice car for carrying stuff, has great grip driving below the limit but doesn't handle that well at the limit. Also they're extremely heavy and not very fast.

With such little cargo volume in the "trunk", I don't see the point of the Macan. Just to sit high I guess?
Its 17.7 sq ft of cargo space puts it significantly smaller than a little Ford Focus or VW Golf hatchback. I'd either get a bigger SUV with real utility, or a bigger sedan with better performance and similar trunk volume. |

After driving both the macan turbo and cayenne turbo I liked the cayenne a lot more. More room. V8 instead of V6. Just felt a lot more powerful. You can get a pretty loaded 2011-2014 cayenne turbo for the same price or less than a macan turbo.

I wanted a Macan GTS for my daily driver, but my wiffe veto'd it. She said it was too much like her Cayenne, and she didn't want us having 3 porsches. so I got the M4 for my daily. I'm 52. At 40, I got a C6 vette, but not midlife, just because I always have had great cars.

have been driving one since July 2014 when it was introduced. Great CUV in its class, nobody comes with close ... maybe until the X3M and GLC63 show up.
The Macan will have a facelift coming pretty soon, maybe as early as Spring 2018 as MY2019 and the rumor has it that the Turbo will ditch the 3.6L engine in favor of the 2.9L engine that is now found in Panny 4S and Cayenne S, thus bumping the power up to near 440 from the current 400. |

Also, I wouldn't say extremely heavy. You should see my X5 50i with it's 6000lbs lol (and btw I'm at 3.9 sec 0-60 not exactly stock lol - smoked local M4 once - not too bad for a 7 seater SUV lol) I would say it's all relative and power to weight ration also matters of course P.S. I bet I can outpace you on a track in my 50i |

My bosses 16 year old daughter has one, it's okay. His other daughter has a 2016 Cayanne S, I prefer it over the Macan.

For me there's huge difference between S and Turbo - not only in performance (one is twice as fast basically), but mostly in exterior. Turbo and Turbo S are like an M to a BMW so to speak - if you put Macan Turbo and Macan S together - 2 completely different cars inside and out (same with Cayenne - S vs Turbo is like 335i vs M3)

Do it. But drive an S and GTS before paying Turbo money. It's overkill IMO for most roads, at least by me.

Yes, the Macan is a great car, and great looking inside and out. Not a huge back seat but plenty of room in the trunk and more if you put the seats down. Dynamically, it's probably the best SUV around, second would be the Cayennes.

Don't forget the Panamera wagon or the RS4 Avant (supposedly coming to US) if you want a more unique people hauler that really hauls.

Everybody and their mother drives an X5 nowadays. Unless it's a loaded up M sport it'll just blend right in with the crowd. The Macan, on the other hand, is super sexy and always turns heads. Downside is that it's cramped af inside.
