Considering going back to school...
Well I guess I should my GI Bill than let it sit there. Work is...meh. Drama but the work isn't that hard. But I'm getting headaches after working behind a computer all day and there is no place for....promotion...just more workload ontop of the workload we are already given.
My question, what are good schools out there for the Automotive Industry? I was thinking starting in Autobody repair and possibly taking online classes to get a degree. What are thoughts on like UTI or something like that? I've always wanted to get into body repair, making cars beautiful again, just restoration and stuff ya know? |

I don't know enough about GI bill. Could you use it for both tuition and board? Because you can't do body work over the internet, no matter how hard you try.
If you feel the passion to do it, go for it! There will always be smashed cars to work on, even if Google gets their automatic cars on the road. Your REAL headache will possibly come from the paperwork to get paid by the insurance companies. . . |

I was thinking of this exact scene as I posted. Glad you took the joke versus going Leo on me.

First off, thank you for your service.
It sounds like your current job has other issues from the other threads I read in addition to being dead end and not interesting enough. Something like UTI would be good, the trades are a good thing to get into right now. Colleges are pumping out millions of history degrees and everyone thinks they are "above" doing a trade. My plumber makes 100+ grand a year and has more customers than he can handle. If you are truly interested in auto body, I suggest you look into some apprentice programs that might let you really see the daily job to figure out if it is something you want to make your career, then go for the necessary schooling.

Any interest in aviation? Mechanics and pilots are becoming hard to find. GI Bill will help with both. If looking at the pilot route you'll have to do your private pilot first then the GI Bill will kick in for additional railings. I burned up all of my GI Bill last year.
