Best make of point and shoot camera (digital)
What do you guys think??
I'm considering a Canon Powershot S70 7.4mp - anyone have any thoughts? I'm primarily interested in picture quality and size of camera. I.e - "pocketable"

You should seriously consider the Canon Elph series then...as they are perhaps the best portable camera with the greatest image quality. Anything bigger than an Elph, in my opinion, isn't truly compact.

I have an S45, which was awesome. But just recently purchased a Canon Digital Elph cause I was looking for small and portable, and maintain quality. Both great cameras.
Edit:I think I have the same one as Nikki, Digital Elph SD500. And it's not girly... |

They're not girly cameras although I can see why you would think so. They're just great, portable cameras that can fit in your pockets and if small cameras are considered girly next to the huge, masculine SLR cameras then ok, maybe it is girly...
Those small cameras come with optical zoom as standard (at least for today's models) and their resolution is now in the 4-5+ MP range...which implies that you can print out 11x8" prints that will look like film.

Nikki,
Can you easily place the SD500 in your pocket? I'm looking for compactness but brilliant shots. I also dont want to have to mess with any manual controls. I want good shots in auto mode. Is the SD500 for me?

I have sony 5.1 megapixels, really crapy, tested out new 10.3 camera, difference only in image size not actual image processor. No wonder its only $1k where as canons with 8 megapixels go for $2k
