It's been amazing to own and drive a custom-ordered M240i, certainly the best of the 34 cars I've owned. I could've been happy with my M240i for many more years, but this week I had an unforeseen chance to buy my ultimate dream car, which I brought home today. Unfortunately, there's no way to keep both cars.
Besides knowing that I'll miss my M240i, this has been such a genuinely great forum. Thanks to the exceptional members who have mingled here every day with me for fun, support, and good debate. I'll be sticking around here, same as always!

Now, everybody hurry over to my for-sale ad... before I change my mind and keep the M240i!

Yah, when I read that you're giving up your almost new (2018) M240i, I was thinking WTF is up with that; but giving it up for a Porsche Carrera is something everyone on this board will understand.
Congrats, I'm envious.

I wouldn't be too sad with that 911 in the garage! Sweet car.

What? No LWB + rear seat delete option?! That is why you buy the T to begin with! Trust me when I say I'm a Porsche fanatic (peep the username), but for the life of me, I cannot understand why someone would pay double or potentially near triple (depending on options) the price of a M240i for the same 0-60 time and actually a very similar driving feel in terms of being a softer, more refined type of sports car with the same 2+2 sofa seat layout, same numb-ish steering, 3.0L turbocharged 6-pot, etc. etc. Despite the marketing efforts by Porsche, the Carrera T is still no GT3...hate to be a negative Nancy, but I'm genuinely curious where your motivation came from to make the switch.

I like it. That's ample reason, no? I could say more, but why would I?

The strength of your conviction about my poor choice didn't seem to leave any room for debate. You say you hate to be a Negative Nancy, but it seems that you rather enjoy it.

Never said it was a poor choice. Just one I wouldn't have made myself given what I know about both cars. Hence, my request for enlightenment.

Congrats!
As for CP911's comments, if a person has never had a porsche before I think the move will be well worth it, porsches offer a unique sublime driving experience. Moving from my z4 coupe (which I loved) to a 981 cayman S brought me to a new level of automotive bliss. After about 6 months the uniqueness of the porsche driving experience normalized for me, and I started looking around (and ultimately ended up in an m240i no less!), but those first 6 months were bloody awesome and I am so glad I experienced them. Enjoy! |
