Because I like to have the physical case and cd. I did the whole mIRC thing back in college which spured my interest in a lot of bands. Which I've since bought their albums.
I get the albums home and convert them to mp3. Solefald, I actually agree with you. I've noticed it a bit. Something did sound off a little. But it still sounds 10x's better than most mp3's you can download. |

1. I don't like the fact you can't buy music online that is lossless (even if someone says the quality is already shit).
2. The artist really should get paid. 3. I want a hard-copy backup, in case my computer and backup HD are stolen/fried by lightning. I wish players and home stereo receivers were more FLAC-friendly. |

to tell you the truth i buy all my music on cd's or from i-tunes because i am affraid of getting caught. my wife could possibly get into trouble at her job with the type of work she does if i did anything illegal like this and i feel i have to much too lose. i mean to steal music and save what a few hundred dollars a year is just not worth it to me when i think what it would cost me if i got caught. jmo.

I still buy music CD's, but it is fairly infrequent. Unfortunately, most current artists have no more than 1-2 songs worth listening on a full album.
On a decent audio system, you can still tell the difference between an mp3 (even at high bitrates) and the original CD. Now, if there was a way to get lossless downloads, then I would never buy another CD. I am in the process of converting all of my CD's to a lossless digital format. I am probably going to use Apple lossless (though I hear FLAC is good, too). For my ipod I have been using mp3, but will probably do all future tracks as AAC (smaller filesize).
