Tesla Model Y
Has anyone noticed how adult their Model Y design looks? No falcon door BS, no sky-high aspirations - just a Model 3 with a taller body, hatchback, and a pair of kiddy seats. You can say what you want, but those guys are definitely learning that making money in boring ways is better than the high drama of the previous years.

Model Y took the route of the X4 and GLC Coupe. I wonder if that will scare buyers away. Considering most SUV buyers still prefer X3 and GLC.
interesting only matte black exterior trim. I guess that matches well with the suv black cladding but I personally like the matte chrome trim on Model3. Last edited by openwheelracing; 03-15-2019 at 06:28 PM.. |

You have no idea how many Model 3 owners get hard just thinking about the possibility of OEM black trim.

Its all right. Just bigger brother of Model 3. Looks so similar
TESLA will be having tough competition once German (VW, Audi, Porsche, Merc) joins the electric mania

Yup. Plus I feel German manufacturers will be way advance and ahead of Tesla in all aspects.

Look at the specs of the EVs the Germans have presented by now. All those cars have 20-30% lower efficiency per mile compared to similarly sized Teslas. This means they need bigger batteries, adding thousands in costs per vehicle, and they have to spend more time charging on long drives. So, at least at this moment, the facts suggest that Tesla is significantly ahead of everyone else in EV tech. Whether the billions in future R&D spending will help VW and everyone else catch up to Tesla still remains to be seen.

I've been a long time BMW owner, and I am happy with their cars, but I look at Tesla from a different perspective. The Model Y may just be a bloated version of Model 3, but putting aside their lack of creativity with that design, Tesla's innovation is what made it a pioneer for electric vehicles.
The Germans are still the pioneer in automobiles and perhaps will still be the leaders in the next decade, but for EVs they're the fledgling ones behind Tesla, and I'm sure they're very much interested in Tesla's blueprint in their effort to be ahead one day. |

Without a doubt Tesla has a great drivetrain, their vehicles drive like on rails. Tech is also nice. They are lacking in the fit&finish and attention to details. Like for example cabin insulation, body gaps, paint imperfections. I know many say Tesla car drives so well that you can accept other flaws. I am not willing to accept that for a car at $75.000. Maybe I am too picky but I expect more at that price than a fast acceleration. |
