Any Corvette Fanatics out there?
Just curious. The Corvette is the first car that I truly fell in love with as a kid, sometimes I even wish that I instead of getting an E92 I got an E46 ZHP and a C4 or C5 vert with the same money! But, that's already done, and I think my European Delivery in itself made it worth it that I went for the E92, not to mention that buying this new E92 will allow me to hold onto this one for 10 years if I can
Anyone here ever owned a Corvette before? What was your experience with it? Just curious, I think I might buy a C4 vert with an LT1, or older C5 vert as a present after I pass the CPA exam and get the hefty pay increase that comes with getting those 3 letters after your name.

i leased a 2001 C5 for four years. it was awsome, but it had a lot of reliability/quality issues. the steering became vague after a couple of years. and i was really ready to be done with it by the end. the acceleration was such a rush though, it felt a lot faster than a 335 and everything was so instanteneous. The handling is actually better in my 135. i like c1-c3 and c5, i don't care fore c4 and c6's.
good luck with the CPA by the way. I passed it right after i graduated colledge, took all four parts in one month and scored in the 90's. (you need like a 75 to pass). but i don't have the 3 letters behind my name because i never practiced accounting so never got the hours requirement.

My first experience with the Corvette was just a couple weeks ago. My dad and I had to drive ~350miles to Galveston for university orientation. Since my dad rents with Hertz a lot he had a nice stash of freebie points that we he could use. We rented their Corvette ZHZ...Boy, what a MONSTER!
I was so impressed with the car, definitely felt solid. The only downsides to the car that I could find was the creaking on the inside because of the T-top, at least that's where I think it came from. The seats in this vehicle were absolutely brilliant. Best seats I've ever sat in, so so customizable, you can make it fit you like a glove! The car rides very well, very comfortable to cruise in as well...I'm talking about a 5.5 hour drive. The 'Vette just throws you in the back of your seat and just flys. What a beautiful combination of sound between the engine and exhaust. Truly a great car. I would be scared to drive the Z06 after driving this. Pretty good gas mileage too! I think we got between 20 and 22mpg. |

I could have bought a new 08 C6Z for about $7000 less than I paid for my M3,but the Z06 does not work for me as an everyday car with only 2 seats and no winter driving possibilities.I had a c5 Z06,C5 vert and a C6 vert and they were all good cars. The C6 was a big improvement over the C5's and the C5's were a night & day improvement over the C4's.

My dad had a 1988 vette when I was growing up and I loved it, that kind of made me like vettes. When I was lucky he would let me drive it, and I just thought it was the coolest car ever, haha. I do like vettes though, not sure I'm at the point in my life where I'd want to own one as a daily driver, but I def think it would be a great weekend/track car. I think the new ones are great looking, but for me I'd rather have the BMW just due to comfort.

Agree with all but fuel economy. REAL fuel economy is very shitty. They sidestep EPA and posted figures by requiring you to shift from first to FOURTH unless you red line the thing.

The corvette Z06 gets dammn good gas mileage. In the city I average around 16mpg and on the highway 27. I have the CAGS skip shift on my dads car so it doesn't require you to shift into fourth. I cant even image the mileage an LS3 gets.
