Am I the only one who does visual inspections of my BMW every few days?
Every few days, like clockwork, I'll take a few minutes to walk around my car and make sure there are no dings, dents, scratches, etc. I also check the wheels to make sure there are no scratches. I check the roof, rear bumper and front as well.
Am I crazy or do other BMW owners do this as well? |

Every few days... ? Nope.
Every time I wash my car or do an oil change... Yes!

I just have to do it every once in awhile because if I see a new ding in it, I may know where it came from!

Every time I come to the car. There have been very unpleasant surprises , but after all, I believe it's a good (and recommended) practice to make sure the car is ready to run before you drive it. For example, I heard they could attach some cans to it to make you recklessly get out to check what's the noise and steal your belongings or even the whole car.

Here is another video of why you'd better look (at the end, 3:56):
. In real life I do believe I got a puncture after someone had tucked a nail under my tire (no way I could've picked it driving). I even bought a flashlight to check it in the dark (I actually don't ). |

Focus on looking at it and appreciating it. Do not make it a point to be looking for damage .. law of attraction. I appreciate the eff out of my car almost every single day, quick walk around almost every time I park at work etc ..

sure
every weekend I clean and check the levels of liquids, if I have time I proceed with cleaning the engine compartment, if you do it often you put 5 minutes. When this is clean, it is much easier to realize any leaks and maybe intervene in time. I feel calmer than my vehicle and trusts me, I run about 32 kMiles / year.

I'll just check the side of the car if someone parked really close to me but that's it.

I just took a long weekend trip to Dana Point and Newport Beach for my 4 year anniversary and I used valet parking for most of the time. When I got home yesterday, I did a full check. All good!

No way.
I daily drive in NYC. If I have to see the daily accumulation of damage on a regular basis, I'd go insane. There's no avoiding it here, just let it happen and save yourself the stress. Take care of it with a good detail/paint correction after winter. |
