You should set your budget first and then try to find the best quality stone which fits into it. Go to pricescope.com and use their stone finder to see which size stones you'd be looking at given a certain budget. Whatever you do, focus on getting the best cut. You can compromise on the color and clarity b/c it'll be under 1 ct.
I bought my friend these (not studs) http://www.whiteflash.com/Fine-jewel...-Yard_1145.htm from whiteflash and she was very happy w/them. The ppl at WF are very helpful as well in helping selecting stuff. |

Till one day that it cracks...
My sisters CZ wedding ring cracked a couple years after she got it. Her hubby ended up buying a very nice big diamond to take its place.

Acutally it was my sisters choice. I dont think there has been one decision financially that hasnt been made by the both of them since they got married. They get along very well. Going on 10.5 years and 3 kids

I put diamonds in my food to make my doodoo sparkle.
Seriously tho, you just gotta know your GF. The good thing is that since it's a stud earring, it won't have to be too big (unless she wants the rapper look). Also, it depends on your GF's ear size. When i shopped for the wife's wedding ring, i wanted to go large. When she tried different diamonds on, turns out that a simple 1/2 carat was fine, since she had small fingers. Anything larger would've looked gawdy. She also wasn't a size queen (which is why she married me ) So does your GF equate the size of the diamond to the amount of love you have for her? Maybe I'm old school, but i feel the only women guys should buy diamonds for are 1) mom - cuz she's your mom 2) wife - cuz a happy wife equals a happy life 3) mistress - cuz diamonds allow them to play according to your rules. |

She's good..she doesnt want anything huge or gawdy, thankfully....So I think I'm okay with spending like $3-400..I've been looking around and I can get like 1/4-1/3 ct for that price.

That's a kinda tight budget that really will just limit you to Zales/mall stores which have diamonds that aren't the greatest IMO. The stuff they sell for even $500 have huge margins ..the stones aren't worth that much. Unless she's bent on getting these studs, you both might be happier if you save up and then buy a very nice pair with a good cut (and just spend a lesser amt for her bday gift now), esp. since you're going on vaca w/her anyway.

I bought my girl some diamond studs from here:
http://www.worldjewels.com/_e/page/1...d_Earrings.htm Clarity is awesome, prices are awesome, and appraised locally for much higher than what I bought them for. DO NOT BUY LOCAL - biggest rip off. ________ buy easy vape vaporizer ________ vapir one review ________ MAZDA J PLATFORM SPECIFICATIONS Last edited by stimpy; 02-18-2011 at 05:39 AM.. |

Yeah - echoing what everyone else said - don't buy from the mall.
I just bought an engagement ring and I shopped everywhere. Eventually (because I wanted bricks and mortar store rather than online) I went with an independent custom shop which was recommended highly by a few people I know and respect. They had excellent prices. If you're ok with buying online (since you're not spending that much money ie. engagement ring type money) then I'd recommend looking at Bluenile.com - I've heard nothing but good things and everything is GIA certified which is top of the line when it comes to the stone. |
