A modern update to the 3.0 CSI could be very interesting.

No. Let the classics remain iconic.

It's always very difficult and dangerous re-bring into life an Iconic design....and also an aconic name. Let's think at the name "delta" as you posted above. The first Delta, multi-rally champion, iconic, dream car for an enetire generation. The last Delta it's an awful piece of metal made for sissies.....based on a fiat Bravo, and for comparison, the Bravo was better........

In my opinion, the thing is that today's BMWs are very much "look at me" (which I guess is what the market wants?) whereas back in the Shark Nose era, the design was superbly elegant yet sporty.
I mean this is just stunning in every area:

Doesn't the upcoming 4 series have a (small) shark nose?
In any case, today's pedestrian safety regulations apparently make it very difficult or impossible to repeat those great shark nose fronts from the examples in this thread, as far as I know. |

I don't think that would give enough cooling. Now if the grill was like that and the air dam was perforated I could see it.
Great concept for a modern version of my favorite BMW. |

Shark nose is better than a pig snout of the new 4 series.

With EU pedestrian impact regulations I doubt it's even possible to bring one which is as large as what we see on the E24.
BTW..The F3X cars have a very slight shark nose.
