What are the leading automotive rental companies in France?

I'm hoping-against-hope that international travel is possible in late 2021, and I want to use the number one or two car rental company in France. I have rented extensively in Germany but not in France.

Thanks for your help.

And you're not going anywhere until next year.

OK, I'm coming up with Europcar, Sixt and Hertz as the larger players based in France.

Can any site members from the UK or France provide input? Thanks!

In 2016, my family visited Europe and we rented from Europcar. Was a very nice experience. They provided us with a nicer car than what we rented. Ended up with a very fresh Mercedes diesel wagon with extremely low miles. The car had no markings to indicate it was a rental. We were driving from Paris to Florence with a bunch of stopovers along the way, including a quick stay in Monaco.

No one ever explained why they upgraded us. The car had Italian EU plates on it. We guessed that maybe they gave us the car to get it back to Italy.

Anyway, after driving around for almost 2 weeks in France, we arrived in Florence and dropped off the car without any hassles. Very easy transaction---no more complex than renting in the USA.
