I'm claustrophobic. That was the quickest thing that came to mind. It's not something I obsess about but rather try to avoid places/spaces that get to me.
Other than that, I've been trying to keep fear out of my life. |

That my daughter would die before me. This would crush me. We are so very close and she is a wonderful person. Besides, as the saying goes, "no parent should have to bury a child."

Well, you can't make a thread and not list your fears. Mine would be having something happened to my kids. I probably think about it on a daily basis. Not healthy? Normal? It is what it is.

Big fear-I am not taking care of myself and ruining my health nutritionally and mentally
Little fear-I can’t touch or catch those little Florida lizards. If they get in the house or the cats bring one in, I hate to call my wife. No idea why….I just can’t do it |

Kamala takes Biden’s place.

I should add that I have a son as well, but he lives in another state and we are not close. I see my daughter every day, she is my best friend and we share everything. We have been this way since she was born, she's 39 now. Fathers and daughters, I guess.

My fear was that some world-wide nightmare would happen right as I retired, killing the stock market (and hence my funds) and keeping me cooped up in my house. Well...hello COVID. Right on time.
But the market recovered and hopefully stays mostly healthy. And if COVID continues to fade and be less of a threat, then maybe I'll get to enjoy retirement from someplace other than my house. I'm ready to travel again. As far as more concrete fears, my big one is cancer. Cancer has hit my family hard, so it's always a concern for me. I'm lucky enough to have decent health insurance, so I get a checkup every 6 months or so. Still, the worry is always there.

Big fear: the death of internal combustion engines
Little fear: drinking something out of a can at a picnic. you never know when a bitchass hornet or bee will fly into the can of coke when you're not looking.

Oh wow, flashbacks to lunch in the motor pool at my unit in Germany. I've seen that happen many times.

I have a weird phobia of the bottom of boats whether in or out of the water. Even jet skis, I hate pressure washing the underside when they’re on the trailer, it creeps me out.
I’ve always been afraid of becoming mentally ill. I don’t know anyone in my family that is or have any reason to think I would but it’s something I’ve thought about a lot since probably middle school. |
