VERY trivial question about dish sponge placement

A minor irritant (even though I'm usually a ftn over form guy) is I always leave my dish sponge, etc (whatever you use to scrub/clean your dishes) next to the sink and it's unsightly. I'd rather put them away under the sink inside a cupboard but ofc that's no good since it won't dry properly, get mildew and turn nasty. Still, it's lying on top of my counter and it's an eyesore. Are there any better ideas what to do w them that is both practical and not such an eyesore?

I have a stainless steel basket kind of thing that attaches to the side of the sink with suction cups. I'll see if I can find a picture.

Haven't a sponge but a saucepan wash up brush which goes in a holder on the side and for wiping the sink a microcloth that joins it on the side.

Tx. I figured it would be something like this but other trays I've seen are clunky, this one actually looks good.

So, where do you put your dishwashing gloves?

I have an under counter drawer for that purpose.

Or............
you could switch over to using a natural sea sponge.....

https://acmespongeonline.com/natural-sea-sponge-uses/

"Using a sea sponge in the kitchen has many benefits over the commonly used synthetic sponges. Sea sponges, unlike synthetics, are naturally antibacterial, essentially self-cleaning (because of their pore structure) and, as a result, don’t develop the nasty odors normally associated with a kitchen sponge."

Our cheap dish drainer basket has wire loop arms on the sides that can be flexed out slightly to hold a wet sponge while it dries.....

Neat drawer, but it's not airy so I'd be concerned still.

Hmm, tx, interesting, but I wonder since it could still mildew, just lower chance.

re various posts about drying racks:
I don't want the clutter of having one sitting on the counter though.

I am an essentialist--a step further than minimalist- so no clutter on my counter-ever! Just bare, sterile surfaces.
I use a silicone sponge--They last forever, they go in the dish washer, they are impervious to mold and odor. When I'm done with it, it goes under the sink.
You really have to stop using those synthetic dish sponges they are bacteria hotels.

It's not that, I just don't want to wash my hands after washing the dishes.

"Essentialist", I like it.

So are they even better than those sea sponges?

If you don't like using the thick rubber gloves then latex ones are good if you have a lot of washing up to do.
