50mm 1.8 = thrifty fifty!
Either way, its a great lens for the price. Very sharp and since its a prime, it makes you get more creative as a photographer. |

I like lenses with large apetures too! Great for creating the blurring effect on the background and terrific for low light photographing without flash.

really makes you be more "creative", I love it... Hoping I'll have more time to play with it and get better in the next couple of weeks.

Speaking of other primes, not as cheap. The 85mm is longer but bokeh is just as smooth, if not smoother.
One from today - http://img529.imageshack.us/img529/6303/wld11vn9.jpg I think we need some lens archives. |

Spend a lot of money on a lense is a wise investment. It's even wiser than spending a lot of money on a car. Lenses depreciate very little. Leica NOCTILUX-M 50mm f/0.95 for 11,000 is reasonable because it's in a class of its own, but selling it will be difficult in these economic times.

I wanted a G9 for a daily p&s that I could carry with me but after looking at it in person, its a lot bigger and bulkier than I imagined it to be.. I still want one, but for now I still have my sony cybershot tsc-t100 for a p&s, it has a decent lens and gets the job done... Another good P&S is the Leica D-lux 3/4... Also the Panasonic equivalent. The feature that pulls me towards the leica is the wide angle lens .. But anyways, I just bring it along the sony for mostly group g2g and parties, wouldnt want drunk people getting near my dslr's
