iDrive Engine Sound: "Balanced" - what does it do?

i know what "depending on driving" = default,
reduced = everything off all the time,
Sporty = everyone on all the time

But i have no idea what balanced do. seems to me it works like "reduced" in my car.

Maybe it makes a difference in some other cars?
I thought maybe it means "off below 4000rpm and "on" in high rpms but didn't seem to make a difference

ANyway - sorry for the most unimportant post of the century

Balanced is something between reduced and sport

Reduced is not a hundred percent off, but it is as close to being off as BMW's pride lets them

I tried reduced and balanced in a 540i and couldn't tell the difference much

At least they let you adjust ASD. Us older BMW owners had to code out ASD or use a bypass harness. I am not a fan of fake engine noise.

The Engine Sound menu controls the exhaust flap and not ASD.

maybe it's different in different cars

on my 340 and 550 it the exhaust flap and ASD goes hand in hand with this idrive 7 setting

and the ASD is LOUD in these things. from hey i can talk to my passengers to - a deafening roar from the speakers

there is no middle ground (well you can code a reduction but beware i coded a reduction in the 340 and it will not code back to full blast)
