video of X1 in Canada: supposedly too loud with muffler delete and quad exhaust tips?

I knew this was going to happen sooner or later, eh? someone posted a video claiming that the X1 sounded too loud with muffler delete and quad exhaust tips.

I actually kind of like it? Of course, exhaust sound from a video may sound very different than real life. My do-nothing HOA will, well, do nothing. I already have at least 3 new neighbors from 3 to 6 houses away whose exhaust systems are loud enough to rattle my windows and computer monitors. (all off-roading SUVs and pick-up trucks)

That looks horrible with the exhaust tips protruding from under the bumper like that.

@SpaceSilverX1 thanks for posting. I think the quad tips would look good if they were not hanging below the bumper but more integrated to it ie higher up where what looks like blanking covers are. But, muffler deletes always sound, well just like muffler deletes. The worst part of this will be the drone that it creates inside the cabin.

It’s admirable that he tried and posted it for others to learn from.

Sounds like a vintage tractor...which on a vintage tractor sounds OK, but not a 2023 BMW!

one of my co-workers paid $17,000 over MSRP for his Civic beater last year. he works in the accounting department, so I don't want to judge... but personally, I will NEVER pay over almost $60,000 for a Civic, even if it says Type-R. Am I the only one who thinks it's ridiculous because a $60,000 Civic costs a lot more than most BMW 3-series?(and almost as much as a base 5-series?)

Supply and demand. Much harder to get than a 3 series, and some people don’t mind paying that much over MSRP to get what they want. There are people here paying $45K on a mid tier Ford Maverick that retails for $25K That Type R sure is fun to drive though! Personally I’d rather have a Golf R though.

FlashMonkey929 I hear you on the Golf R ... but, my wife had a 2022 (mk8) when they first came out in blue. It was our 9th sportyish Golf, paid a little over as we were excited for it. All the reviews say mostly good things, but we just didn't like it at all, kept it just about a year and then sold it. It lacked luster for us especially in the cabin materials and the metalwork it is made from is paper thin, whenever I washed it the panels would just flex inwards. She then bought an M240i, so much better a car.

If I were to get a Golf R it would have to probably be the Mk7, the current ones just don't look "Golf" enough for me, and the haptic buttons are shit. I've been toying with the idea of selling my '06 xB beater and getting something more fun to drive, probably something older and not as electronic dependent. I really miss my e90 335, but I also may be able to get a Z4M coupe sometime this year if luck plays out.

FlashMonkey929 I would recommend a Mk7 over a Mk8. We traded a Mk7 GTi for the R. that was a mistake as the Mk7 GTi was a much more fun car to drive, it was built better, there was limited lag on pick up, zero recalls, just regular servicing and a few mods like VWR certified suspension improved the handling without making it look like a modified car.

On the Mk8, I agree with your buttons comment and the UI was garbage, you do get a used to it though, but its the build quality that you can't forgive, honestly, they just use the cheapest of materials its unreal. Mk7 all the way.
