BMW X1 vs X3 Full comparison video
All - he has done a few like this and this is pretty good and honest overall to me the X1 looks great and shows that packaging wise the X3 is quite a bit behind. Obviously the loads of manual controls vs screen comes in and that's a personal thing for many.
Worth a watch for anyone sitting not he fence, the X1 is the more fun car that's for certain. |

Definitely a comprehensive comparison, and a well put together video. And unless Germany gets a special suspension none of the other markets get, he is mistaken with the "adaptive" suspension in the X1.

Yeah he had a few bits where he had swallowed some of the BMW blurb a bit too much but a pretty fair assessment.

I frequently get to drive my friend's 2021 BMW X3. (in exchange for letting her drive my new X1)
Here are my thoughts: X3 is noticeably noisier when driving on the freeways at 60mph or 75mph. Based on what I've read, the runflat tires on the X3 are to blame for this. My friend actually plans to replace the tires as soon as the factory tires wear out.(currently has just 14,000 miles on them) Also, the X1 has less wind noise at higher speeds, which is probably due to the newer exterior design aimed at reducing wind drag?(for the full EV version iX1 not sold here in the US) X3 is easier to park on tight city streets. Totally not sure why. The X3 is slightly bigger than the X1. For example, using just my eyes and NOT looking at the backup cameras or listening to the parking sensor beeps, I can easily parallel park the X3 into a small space on the street almost effortlessly. In my own X1, I sometimes have to struggle when parallel parking.(but in reality, I do have plenty of space, but it just doesn't seem so when I'm actually trying parallel park with ten other cars behind me waiting for me to get into the space so they can pass the narrow street) I prefer the no wheel iDrive system on the X1. It did take a couple of weeks to learn everything because it has a rather steep learning curve. However, once I got used to it, I prefer it over having a physical wheel. The only exception is the AC controls. Physical buttons are still better for this purpose. interior space. I agree with the guy in the video. I've always been tall, but only recently graduated into the big and tall category. The driver's seat on my X1 feels more comfortable for long drive lasing 3 or 4 hours or more.(I have the sport seat with Alcantara) I also have just a little more headroom in the X1, compared to the X3. |

To be fair, we are comparing BMW’s newest model with a very long in the tooth X3. This highlights the progress of the X1 more than the failures of the X3, and I imagine the new X3 will be similarly progressive in its evolution.
