Tray to create a frunk storage space in iX1
No sure if posted already. This is really awesome for iX1 (tray to create a frunk):
Perfect storage for the charging cable and maybe some low utilization equipment as well. |

Looks like they already sell it: https://www.frunk.at/en/produkt/bmw-ix1-en/
Seems quite big as seen in this video. From 2:18 : |

Imagine the cable end going under this storage into engine bay. I think the space in the trunk under floors more than good for cables. I have a petrol one but store some required stuff under the floor like small shovel, Tyre repair kit etc.

Interesting that there‘s a market for this accessory. We keep the cable in the booth, or in the co-pilot leg room.
It‘s good to have heat resistent material for the part, but then storing a paper manual and other things there?? Nah, skip for me. Another argument: why lifting the hood, when you have an automated trunk lid… |

I'm storing my AC cable in the thin space under the booth board with the sockets in the slightly bigger space on the left. In this way the big compartment on the back side is fully available for other stuff.

The reason that everyone wants to do this with a BMW is almost all other rivals ofter a front FROOT/FRUNK call it what you like. For reasons only BMW will know they are still not adding them to the EV's when almost everyone else does.
Seems simple to use the front to store cables as its almost completely dead space where an engine used to be. However from the new i3 due next year it appears BMW WILL be following everyone else with a similar front storage solution maximising space, which seems sensible to me. |

Keeping it under the rear trunk floor works, but I do have other items tucked in there: 3x umbrellas, a tire pump, towels to wipe stuff off bird pop or a quick waterless wash) the car when needed, emergency triangle+neon vest, and EV charger adaptor (there are different EV chargers) that I put under the trunk floor. I like to keep the trunk space entirely empty above the floor so that I could throw my groceries and kid's sports equipment in there. To begin with these cars don't have a huge trunk, and every inch is golden. I much prefer those "good to have" loose items stored away below the floor. |
