Has 1Addicts Considered Adding a Couple of Moderators?
It seems like spam is getting harder for Howard to police on his own. Maybe the site has grown enough to warrant a couple more moderators? :iono: I nominate anyone but me!

The mods offered it to me last week and never got back in touch...but I did say yes.
I'd do it. If you are soliciting names for mods I'd recommend onehot2k, atrhugo and Ultimate and Irv. They don't diss people for disagreeing with them, keep an even keel, and each is knowledgeable about BMW's. I'd be comfortable and happy with any of those guys taking on more responsibility at 1addicts. |

Whoever does it is fine, but someone definitely needs to do it because the forum's popularity will shoot through roof once the car actually comes out. When that happens, you can expect a lot of nastiness to result.

I concur, that was one of the things that I enjoy about this forum. There really is minimal insults and fighting considering other forums I am active in. That being said it would definitely be a good idea to get a few mods in place so when the car is actually released they will be able to keep the boards under control.

I've seen other forums start out this way and in time they start to slide. JMO, but it's important to have the structure & basic principles of protocol well established before the rapid growth begins.

1ster you are right, that is by far the best forum I have been on in regards to the maturity level of the posters. The mods there do a great job. Hopefully this forum can mimic that one once the car is released.

some of the acura boards can get out of control....
so far we are all very calm around here but as soon as the 1er gets released, trouble will start... ie: BMW haters, 1er haters, 3 series owners, competing model owners, or just in general trouble starters. But so far i really like it around here  |

Yep. It is the only place that I have found (apart from here, for the time being) where intelligent conversation actually takes place on a regular basis.

It's kind of sad that people actually take time out of their day to hate on other cars in an online forum. I mean honestly, cars and their looks are subjective. What one person likes in apperance another may not. I just enjoy learning about some of the different cars and competition out there. Just because I drive a G35 does not mean I am hating on a 3 series or a BMW for that matter. In fact for me it is the opposite, but not everyone looks at it that way....man talk about off topic anyways yes more mods will be better for the forum in the long run.

We'll get the bulk of our 'fanboix' after the product is readily available. It's inevitable that they'll be attracted to these forums because of the perception of the brand.
We're pretty lucky in that the bulk of the folks here are curious, relatively intelligent (with some exceptions, like me ; -) and don't attack each other, each others' arguments yes, but not each other. That makes for good reading. That'll change when the masses arrive to proclaim the divinity of the roundel. I keep telling myself I'm interested in this car despite the fact that it's a BMW, not because it is a BMW. (Take that with a grain of salt please. ; -) |
