I applied the upgrade yesterday evening. The radiator blinds opened and the cooling fans were running for a few minutes during the upgrade. This morning the EML is lit.

My generic bluetooth ELM472 dongle with the Torque app on an Android phone is reporting DTC P0606 (ECM/PCM fault). My fancy iCarsoft reader didn't report anything.

Oh, and Spotify has disappeared again. Hopefully that will come back in a day or two, as it usually does.

I think I saw someone else say the EML was lit but then went away. Have installed it but not driven it yet.

I have put it into deep-sleep mode. Hopefully a soft-reset of the onboard systems will help.

Update: Just woke it up and the EML has gone away.

I had the check engine light come on as well the day after the update (I left it to do it overnight). When I started the X1 I had to go pickup a family member so I drove it anyways with the EML on. I then tried turning off the X1 a few times and it didn't clear it.

Assuming it was caused by the update, I came to the forums to see if anyone else had the problem. I was glad to see this thread and the suggestion to put it into deep sleep.

I tried that, let it sit for about 10 minutes, and turned the car back on. The check engine light was still on. In frustration I turned off the X1 and was about to go use our other vehicle when my wife suggested we turn it back on one more time. This time the EML was gone and everything has been fine since.

I knew the EML wasn't a "real" error but it was still super annoying to have to deal with it.

So thx to ronime for the suggestion!

Updated my 30e, which had ID8, yesterday and out driving this morning with no problems/issues so far🤞. Can’t see any obvious changes apart from the font looking different in the drivers screen.

A mate of mine who is the service manager in a large dealership told me last night that the latest software has cause loads of X1's to break down! He said that they we inundated over the weekend with breakdowns, all caused with that latest software update.

A lot of times software updates and coding or replacing components will cause lights to come on in the dash, many of these can be cleared by just driving the car a short distance. Others may require a small amount of time to clear themselves while the related software does its adaptations and checks. With ID8 and ID9 being so connected to BMWs servers now, it requires validation for some things before activating or clearing an error. If you’re in an area like a parking garage with poor reception or the server is busy, things like this may take longer.

Yes, same here. Update went through okay but yellow EML was lit. Disappeared the next day after filling with petrol (a coincidence!!).

And if you ever decide to upgrade....do it while parked at dealers.
That's my main take away.

2nd, is to take.car to deep sleep and then wake up, thus forcing most subunits to bootstrap again.

Ours did exactly the same late at night, some of the neighbours including myself wondered what the racket was all about. Has been fine since, but did cause a bit of a panic.

We had the EML go on after the software update. The myBMW app also wasn't refreshing, so it was stuck on the time/date when the update occurred. We reset everything, including deleting/installing the app, deleting drivers from iDrive and starting over. The app now works, but we've been noticing other glitches, such as the display being glitchy and comfort access not locking when walking away.

also waiting, though some people already got the update in Italy. to me its important for the pull off hesitation. Italy is full of traffic circles, i find myself driving only in sport, otherwise i risk causing an accident (here people drive fast, and u need to pull of rapidly at circles)

Did you make your car to deep-sleep?
On wake up, allegedly it makes the car to reboot more systems than just id8/9 softreset!
