Winter tires for 20 inch rims

Would non-SUV Michelin Alpin 5 tires be suitable for my X1 m35i with standard 20 inch rims?

You dont need the SUV tires - just look for homologation ones .
To asnwer the question yes - but pay attention to the load index

Is anyone familiar with any winter tires, that are homologized for x1 m35i on the standard 20 inch rims? I can’t find any.

There’s another member on this board that bought a set of 872M wheels with winter rubber on them.

Do a quick search should come up

That’s me! They’re Pirelli P Zero Winter 245/40/20

They have the Star marking and are great!

Thanks! Glad to hear you’re happy with the purchase. I’ll probably buy them too. There’s also Continental WinterContact TS 860 S that has the star, but AFAIK is not homologized for the X1 M35i. Need the tire be homologized for particular car model or car manufacturer only? I’ve heard both views and I’m pretty confused now.

Any tire for 20” rims with a star marking that follow the size 245/40/20, 8J, and ET:46 will work for the X1 M35i. Basically ANY tire made for the X1 U11 will work with ANY variant of the X1. The Pirelli P zeros and continental winter contact will work for the X1 m35i.

You don’t need to worry about having it specifically made for M35i only. You won’t find anything like that
