Driving assistant plus

How is the driving assistant plus activation working for you guys? I have the 2023 x1 28i. Few days ago I tried the driving assistant plus trial but I think it has not fully activated. I can use the the active distance control/cruise control, lane deperture warning. But I think it should also provide a steering assist while I do not know what the steering assist does, I do see that the whole driving assistant plus subscription still says activating. Did you have to do anything else to make the driving assistant plus fully active? Did you also get a steering assist with driving assistant plus?

is that Cincy as in Bearcats? Go Bearcats!

I can probably speak about Driving Assistance Plus subscription a little bit. I had two previous threads about it.

I got my X1 in May. I started the 3 month trial. It took almost 5 days before it became fully activated. During the first couple of days, it showed the "activating" message you described. When I pressed the buttons for cruise control, the traditional cruise control was turned on. On day 3, I got tired of waiting and called BMW. They saw the subscription trial in "activating" status as well. A support ticket was started and I was advised to wait until the next day to do a hard reset of iDrive.(by holding down the volume wheel for a while) On day 4, it appeared to have been activated. I was able to start driving with adaptive cruise control with lane keep assist. However, it felt very wonky. Finally, on day 5, everything worked as it should. I was able to let the X1 keep the distance and speed that I want.

When the 3-month trial ended, I didn't really feel like paying $950 for a full subscription... or a monthly subscription for $20... so it went away.

my original thread about the 1st 3-month trial:
https://u11.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh...ght=assistance

However, last month, I got an email(or an in app notification) from BMW asking me to come back to Driving Assistance Plus. No idea why... but I followed it and clicked a few buttons. I made sure that I didn't enter any payment info or agree to being billed. Strangely, when I went into ConnectedStore, it showed that my subscription ends after 3 months. I was able to find out from BMW that they gave me another 3- month trial. (probably in an effort to convince someone like me to pay up?) Like the first time, it still took about 3 days for the function to fully activate. But I didn't really mind... free is free.

my thread about the 2nd 3-month trial from last month: https://u11.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh...ight=assistant

Having said that, BMW currently offers Driving Assistance Plus as an option for 2024 X1 for only $500(or $550?). I wish they can lower the full subscription price from $950 to maybe $600 for existing X1 owners like us.

Thanks for such a detailed post friend! I had seen your other post already and managed BMWNA to open a service ticket for me. The BMW genius was trying to convince me there is no steering assist for DA PLUS, its only for DAPRO but I doubt that. Hopefully I get my full free trial activation soon.

BTW in the car app I saw note that I can ask to extend 2 more weeks.
Well its a great deal for 500! I think we might also get an option to upgrade to DA PRO.

And yes Bearcats are awesome

first, let me address the upgrade to Driving Assistance Pro. Based on my research and what others have posted here, it will be impossible. Only when the X1 is ordered from the factory with that option will be able to have it.

steering assist.... I forgot what the official name is... but when I activate Driving Assistance Plus and set a speed, the car keeps itself in the middle of then lane on interstates and most highways. as long as I keep at least one of my hands on the steering wheels, it will keep on going. sometimes it will deactivate itself in heavy rain or when the road markings are old and faded, but that's to be expected.

I accompanied someone to interviews and helped prepare applications to UC more than 3 times during a 10-year period: college, grad school(master and again for PhD) So I got to know the university quite well. I do kind of feel bad, because this person was accepted all three times, but chose a different school each time. (although mostly because of higher scholarships for the first two times and a full ride for the last one from competing universities)
