I pod

Recently collected my new X1 23i XDrive MSport, following a number of comments regarding potential issues playing music from old I pods I am delighted to report I plugged in my I pod classic via a usb/usb c adaptor clicked on media / I pod and all songs listed and available to play. For info I have operating system 9.
Also dealer supplied and fitted M sport door sills
Picked up my car on 1st March so not covered many miles as yet but so far delighted with car

I cant find my ipod touch in media. Where I expected it to pop up when I plugged it into one of the USB C sockets in the front. I can play it through bluetooth, but only as a sequential list of songs, no file system.

please post pictures of how this functions! I currently have a 2024 X1 on order and am concerned w the entertainment aux for my new car. I had to resort to buying an old iPhone on eBay to use for my music because my 2018 X1 (and later on my 2021 X1) would 'lock' the music on my iPod Classic.

Why not just put the music on your phone and use wireless CarPlay or AA? Why carry around another device that needs to be tethered?

Cause a USB stick with a large music collection works like absolute crap in the X1. Mine is around 100GB and I have constant issues with the USB stick not being recognized and occasionally getting corrupted by the car to the point I actually have to plug it into my computer and run scandisk to fix it.

I use the ipod for podcasts. I found itunes to be good for ordering them into series and deleting the ones I had listened to in the correct order. I can get that I can use spotify through AA (And do) But I am struggling to organise the play order. Its probably user error.

I will never put music on my phone, those 2 things should always be kept separate. I'm not going to fill up all the space on my phone for music and if my phone breaks then I have nothing to listen to. streaming music is a joke when you own thousands of songs on your computer. I'm not paying to listen to music I already own and the last thing I want to hear is an advertisement.
the first thing I do when I get my new cars is to disable the AM/FM radio and the Sirius radio and only use an iPod.

This is why your phone contents get backed up all the time. "All the space on your phone"---how many GBs of music do you have?
