They don’t bother us here in my neck of the woods. We do have crickets, but I don't mind them.

How long are they expected to be around? We don’t have them here so don’t know much about them.

I'm in NW Arkansas (Benton County). No sign or noise of those critters yet, but soon.
Looks like my area has brood XIX, the 13 year brood, for 2024. Link: https://www.fs.usda.gov/foresthealth...dStaticMap.pdf |

Meh... just kind of used to them after living in the south most of my life. Frankly their noise kind of just blends in with my tinnitus.

Sorry to hear about the tinnitus. We don't get the noise from the cicadas and I don't have tinnitus. Guess my ears are lucky. Wish I could say the same for my poor ol' aching back.

Luckily, I have no problems sleeping with foam earplugs.

The yellow ones are only rated for 23db, vs. 29db for the orange ones. We stopped buying the yellow ones at work because the guys were complaining that they were not as good as the orange ones.

Tried them and no they're not. Tried them all and the ones I'm using work the best, for me. Been wearing earplugs for more than 30 years.

I have a big box of the yellow ones that use when I'm running the leaf blower or other noisy tool. For sleep, I use softer, tapered plugs. I think I got them at CVS or Walgreens.
