Dashcam for 2024/25 X2
Just installed the FitCamX and could not be more pleased with the simplicity of the install and the overall appearance. Nice and clean with no exposed wires. Make sure the SD card is pushed all the way in and locked in place. Mine was not and for a while I thought I had a defective unit.
FitCam has not yet updated their website for the new X2 but if you are interested in ordering one this is the one I got and it is a perfect fit: https://fitcamx.com/collections/bmw/...nd-ix1u11-2023[ Last edited by X2me; 09-10-2024 at 07:23 PM.. |

I removed the sticker because I wanted to keep the whole thing stealthy. I contacted them to make sure that removing the sticker would not cause issue if it ever needed to repaired or replaced under warranty. They said it was fine. The only remaining clue that it was a dashcam was the microSD slot. I got a black matte sticker to cover up the slot and the buttons on the other side. The only remaining clue for the dashcam is the lens in the front. They also sell it on their Amazon Fitcam store. I bought it when it was discounted to $229 for the 4k(front)+1080p(rear) and shipped by Amazon. I never got around to installing the rear cam because I ended up putting my old dashcam on the rear window for that. One of these days I'll run the wire and put up the rear cam. My issue with FITCAMX is that it turns on randomly for like 3 seconds randomly every 10 or 15 seconds apart sometimes minutes in between.
So when you grab clips there’s like hundreds of 3 second videos when idle even when only plugged into the water sensor power. Basically draining battery all day. Not an issue if you drive everyday. But it does concern me a bit. |

Although I do have a few longer videos with of my garage. Somehow it woke up once every night(usually around 4AM or 5AM) and record a few minutes of my dark garage) Not sure if that's a problem with my X1 or the FitCam. Edit: just noticed that almost all of them have 4:01AM or 5:01AM on different nights. I compared that to the Ring camera inside my garage. Nobody was in the garage during those times to open the door or start the engine. Last edited by SnowCover; 09-11-2024 at 07:12 PM.. |

[QUOTE=SnowCover;31461107]That's weird... I just looked at my card and there are no tiny video files like that at all?

I also have the 2023 idrive 8 version so not sure if that affects anything. I also suspect that whole area turns on because of the car trying to ping back to bmw since it also houses the gps as tapping on the cars app also triggers camera activation. Not really sure. I’ve talked to FITCAMX and their solution was to power tap into the mirror instead. Sent me a power kit for it but got lazy and never did it. |
