During Navigation, a video screen pops up?
So I'm new to my X1 and I notice that when I'm using navigation, over on my center monitor a live video of where I am driving shows up on top of the map. Not sure why this is there or how it's helpful. I literally see the same image as I look out my window ahead lol. Is it recording or something? I do notice it has arrows for turning overlayed on top of the video but i'm finding this superflous.

It’s called Augmented View. It can be configured or disabled completely through the ⚙️ icon in the navigation view. There’s more about this in the navigation manual.

Ah thanks - do people find this useful? Also it seems it might be able to pop up where my speedometer is just above my wheel as well. With my heads-up view though, wonder if this is needed.

On my M340i with iDrive 8.5 I can configure it to show on the instrument cluster or nav screen, but not the HUD. I would assume iDrive 9 is similar.
It’s still new to me so I’m a little undecided as to if it’s truly useful or just a cool parlor trick. I can see it having some utility in some situations (dense area, complicated junctions, unfamilar city, etc.) It’s a newer feature, so will tell!
