Day and night, my 2023 warn the occupants when they are opening the doors and theres a risk of collision… light and tone

Welcome lighting includes the puddle lights projected on the ground.

The flashing lights are warnings if you are opening the door with approaching vehicles that could strike it.

Incoming calls flashes / pulses the ambient light strip as your phone is ringing. Obviously more noticeable at night.

Lock / unlock may just be the red light on the rocker switch?
And I don’t think incoming call alert work if you use CarPlay only BMW connect

Mine doesn’t flash when using car play, I’ve not noticed it anyway.

I just tried it when I had CarPlay up and running on the screen in my 2025 X2, the ambient light pulsed with the incoming call.

I believe there's a setting I had to check/uncheck in one of the obscure menus somewhere to get mine to do that. That being said, I don't recall it doing it anymore recently. Not sure if it got disabled in a recent update like how I had to reenable the parking brake, or if it got removed.

It's in the ambient lighting menu under lighting events in iDrive 8. I just checked with CarPlay and then with bluetooth connection only -- and the lighting below the nav screen does flash - very slowly tho. Not a rapid pulse at all. I don't know if I'd really notice it while driving.
