No offense to anyone here but I have a question. Why is it that when people buy anything for the car they will not tell you what they paid for it? We are all supposed to help each other out but you never get a straight answer as to what someone payed for a mod. Im just wondering because it makes no sense at all. If you bought it you apparently did not overpay so just let everyone know. Just an idea.

I also have a simular question: Why do people want you to PM them for the price. So they can make more money?

It is funny however how people brag about what they paid for their cars and then find out they overpaid.

It may be an American thing, embarrasment, or shame. Regardless, I've noticed the same behavior. I can understand not indicating the price in the origonal post, since the information is probably not as interesting as the cool mod that has just been done, but requesting a PM seems a little evasive.

ya why pm if everyone gets the same price? People are so carefull when they shop for a car and brag about the deal they got so why not do the same thing with mods???? I will never understand it and its quite annoying to be honest. If you sell something you should HAVE to put a price in the thread.

Funny, another American thing I´ve noticed is that Americans will compliment someting and always ask how much something was, anything from a shirt to a bicycle to a car. Most people consider that kind of question a bit rude.

This american would only ask the price of a car of a close friend or family member and the respectfully. But you are correct in what you've observed.

Also, I have always felt that if I have to PM someone or call a special 800 telephone # or attend a "free" seminar to know the price of a product or service-then someting must be wrong with the offer

I have also noticed all the PMing that is going on and find it strange that you do have to sneak around or hide the price when you could just post it and leave it at that.

Why was this moved to off topic???? This is a general discussion regarding situations that occur on e90post. I think it should be in gen discussion so I can get a few more opinions on it. About undercutting price we do this all the time when it comes to buying cars and parts at the dealership so why not help each other out with vendors? This will make sure every buyer gets the best price on an item. Isnt that what we are here for to help each other out????

your right, but unless e90 post admin's can enforce a "upfront price disclosure" rule, I do not know of a workable solution.

I think it has to do with 2 reasons.

1. Some people are able get a deal on a product for whatever reason. And if they disclose that price....everyone else will demad that this price is now the fair price for that item. Then the sellers will no longer be able to ask the original true value for the products. So, in order to keep price set..they sometimes ask the one who got the deal, not to disclose the discount price.

2. When some people decide the like a mod, regardless of price. IF they post price....some people might tell them they got ripped off. It sucks to be slammed and told you are stupid for paying alot. People end up being haters...so people like to show off what they have done, but are not so forthcoming when if comes to the money factor.

I guess but if a person got a deal that the vendor can not do anymore the vendor can say NO. Also we post prices about what we got a car for and that changes also depending on condition and eveyone posts a price to help each other out. The vendor can so no to a price but maybe another vendor will say yes (Same if you were buying a car) and it means everyone will get the best price which is why we are here.
