best gaming headset?
with all these disgusting titles coming out in the next year or so and with my stock 360 headset shitting out on me, i figure its about time to upgrade. my friend has the Astros A40 and ive heard a lot of people swear by it. i know many MLG pros use it on the circuit. has anyone here had experience with this headset? are there any others you can recommend around the same price? thanks in advance for any input

A40 FTW
I'm looking to buy a used MLG Edition one off my friend for about $125. I haven't used it during for gaming, but it sounds great as regular headphones when the mic is taken off. He says it makes a huge difference because you can hear so much more than you normally do and you can play without disturbing other people in the house if you get it with the Mixamp.

ExtremeTech has reviewed a huge number of headsets over the years. Some offer sound to die for, and others are so tinny and bland they should simply die themselves. We present to you eight PC gaming headsets in this roundup:
TekNmotion Pulsar SX Turtle Beach Ear Force X4 Astro A40 Audio System Ideazon Banshee Headset SteelSeries 5H v2 SteelSeries Siberia Razer Piranha E.D.G.E. Acoustics GX400 Continued... |

Turtle Beach makes arguably the best bang for your buck headsets out there. I mean really, for the price of the Microsoft wireless headset (basically a bluetooth headset for a cell phone and sucks the pen0r for gaming) you can get the Turtle Beach Ear Force X1 which is on a totally different level.

I have the X4's - if you like hiss - constant static hiss caused by the infrared transmission, then buy 'em!!!
