New qualifying rules in F1 for 2010

The hour-long session will still be split into three segments, but will now see the slowest eight dropped in the opening 20-minute Q1 session, and another eight in Q2 to allow for 10 drivers to contest the shoot-out over 10 minutes.
Q3 will be run in low-fuel configuration with the regulations taking into account the re-fuelling ban for 2010.

Nice, but how do you figure there will be 26 cars out there? 8 1Q + 8 2Q plus 10 final Q is 26. Are there 3 new net teams already? BMW is out!

Even BMW pulled the plug but the racing right of the Hinwil team is still a valid one for the FIA given if they can find a new buyer...just like Brawn GP of this year....Honda pulled the plug but the two racing seats in the 2009 season is still valid...so there are 20 cars instead of 18...

and FIA already announced three new teams for the 2010 season...USF1, Campos, and Manor....2 cars each team....6 new cars....that adds up to 26 cars scheduled for 2010...

if no buyer is found for BMW Sauber, then will be 24 cars...then the qualify rules will be changed slightly like in 2008 after super aguri pulled out from F1....

Agreed, but as long as we have McLaren-Mercedes and Ferrari plus a few more such as Williams etc... it will stay interesting.

but they are less exciting this season compare to Brawn GP vs Red Bull....until last few races....

should be more interesting for the rest of the season with McLaren Mercedes vs Scuderia Ferrari vs Brawn GP Mercedes vs Red Bull Racing....

No doubt!! It is getting more interesting and I always expected Ferrari and McLaren to catch up.
