I remember when I was an early teenager when I started liking BMW's. There was another guy who was into Chevy's. Let's just say that most of the people he knew participated in the big "Chevy vs. Ford" debate.

When heard that I liked BMW he responded, "why do you want one of those British Motor Works cars anyway?"

When I was first looking at the E90, one of my friends asked me why I was looking at a British made car . As the conversation goes on, I come to find out that he thinks it stands for British Motor Works.

This was a guy who spent 6 months living in London... You would think he knew better

My gf's uncle said to me the first time her family saw it, "That's a nice glorifired Ford you have there". I replied, "well not really, that's Jagiuar, and Volvo".

Her family kinda tripped a little that a 23 year old could afford a BMW.

Years ago I was in Chinese class and our professor told a long story in Chinese that somehow ended with the English words "BMW, beat my wife"--at least that's what I heard and I started lol'ing at this woman up in front of me enthusiastically talking about wife beating. I realized it was "BE my wife" from the context a couple seconds later and felt silly. True story.
