The 135ti "BMW's Baby Missile" Spotted --- 306HP Twin-turbo 1 Series

Woah. This thing looks like it's going to be a monster. It's going to have the same 306HP engine as what's in the 335i and it is what, like 25% smaller/lighter?

wow that thing is going to absolutly fly. who knows they might even bring it to canada. id like it better tho if the just called it a 135i instead of a 135ti. it just sounds better IMO.

Just returned from Mexico. Spoted few 1 series cars. This is the next legend (like the 3 is/was). I wish they sold them in US.

i wish they'd bring them here sooo bad. latest word is that they ARE indeed planning on bringing it to the U.S. (straight from the mouth of a BMW C.E.O), but no timetable was given. all he said is that "it is definetely coming to the U.S."

i'd be one of the first on the list to buy one.

i'm assuming it should be relatively inexpensive, considering the 1 series is supposed to be a stripped down, balls to the walls, tiny ass car with no new 3 series or Lexus-like technological bullshit. at least, that is what i'm hoping for. light and fast. with a decent interior. no iDrive. no active sterring. no asswarmers. no subwoofer. no steptronic. no bullshit to distract from the road. just a straight up inexpensive, efficient, spacious, great handling fast car with leather seats and carbon fiber trim.. thats all i want.

please come through with this bmw, pleaaase

Tuned one last week for Bell Engineering (in Texas). Stock, it made a very impressive 240whp/280lbft of torque. With the Xede, we got it to make 290whp and 315lb-ft of torque with just a 2-3psi increase of boost. Great car!

shiv

edit: My memory failed me. It made 290whp, not 300whp with the Xede.

You know what would make that car perfect? .... If they fitted an M Diff as standard.

It would wipe the floor with the current fast hatch competition.

Nearest competition right now for the 130i is Golf R32 and new Audi S3. There is talk however of an RS3....... so perhaps this will be the retaliatory strike?

Haha. Could you guys imagine the new M3 engine in that 1er? 425HP in that small car. Now THAT would be a monster. A hell of a drifting monster. Maybe even a 10 second car.

how bad was wheelspin when you tried to launch it with the xede? i have nothing against the speed 3, but with 240 stock whp and 280 lb/ft of torque, one would expect a better 0-60 than 6 seconds (just repeating what i read in magazines). i mean, the 330ci has probably 200whp and alot less torque, and it still paces the speed 3.

i'm guessing it has to do with FWD. granted, there is a market for FWD rice burners like the speed 3, due to better fuel economy and.... better performance in harsh weather... and understeer.... i guess..... but imo it's unfortunate that they didn't make it the RWD. car would be infinetely better with RWD

The mazdaSpeed3's ECU doesn't give Max power to the front wheels when you're in 1st or when the wheels are turned past certain angles. From all I have read it's a sick little beast.

There is also a special launch technique that gives it the super duper 0-60 times...altogether a great deal.
