Shouldn't have been under E90/92 section, but I feel for him. I would hire a lawyer and get everything I can.

this is unbelievable. poor guy. i can't believe the dealership won;t step up and cover the losses/expenses.
BTW: acetominophen + codeine = Tylenol #3. If the guy were that out of it, hopefully the cops would have noticed. I wonder what happened to the guy who took the car for a joyride.

That really sucks.
I can't understand why some dealers have a hard time with a client's simple request. "Do not drive my Car off the lot"! There was no reason whatsoever for that dipstick to drive the car off the lot. This is a pure lack of respect, no matter what kind of car you have. TV and radio first! If that still does not work, then sue their out. |

Holy crap I just read through all of that. Pieces of sh!t. That dealership will have such a bad name from all of this. If they have any brain cells whatsoever, they need to make this right as fast as possible. .

you gotta know that his story is not 100% true though, im sure theres some facts to it, really sucks though, but the power of teh intraweb will bring that dealer to its knees, if i was him i would get the media involved before a lawyer, news stations LOVE this kind of stuff, and the threat alone would probably get them to play ball

even if this dealer ponies up now, he's probably already gonna lose a lot of business.

That guy needs less text and more pics in his thread if he wants it to get around.

I'd say at this point, it'd cost the dealership a lot less to give they guy a brand new Z06 paid in full, then face the amount of lost sales they are going to have from the bad PR on the web. If they gave him a new Z06, it would look good for the dealership, he would be happy, and it would hopefully overgrow the bad reputation the dealership already has on the internet..

Jeez, at 107,000 views, if everyone donated a dime to him he'd have a lawyer.

I didn't bother to read the entire thread because it was miles long but from what I can understand... the dealer isn't saying they won't pay to fix the car, the dealer is saying that they will not pay him for diminished value or replace his car outright. Frankly, he's going to be hard pressed to win on either count. His argument is one I have seen hundreds of times on M3 and Porsche forums. People think they are driving rolling pieces of art or investments and thow a nutty when something like this happens. Poor guy.
Diminished value is common when people have sports cars or relatively expensive or rare vehicles that are involved in wrecks - the resale value is impacted if the car has ever been in an accident. By how much is difficult to distinguish and that is where he'll be screwed (or his lawyer). A Corvette isn't rare nor expensive unless it is a limited edition or a Z06. A run of the mill 05 Vette is what, $45k loaded brand new? Probably worth about $32k now, give or take a few grand. So the cars been in a wreck, so take off what, 25% if he tried to sell it? What's that, 8k or so? Just throwing numbers around to add perspcective. This isn't the end of the world. I'm not heartless though. I feel for the guy and would be pissed if someone trashed my car, but I wouldn't get all bent out of shape. A realisitic solution would be that the dealer offers a large discount or credit towards a new car. |

What should happen is his insurance company and the dealers insurance company should have gotten together immediately to find a value for the vehicle before the crash and he should get reimbursed that amount less deductible. The dealer from now on should have nothing to do with it.
I know this because at my dealership one of the techs crashed a 645ci and the lady wanted a brand new 650i. The dealerships insurance company and the ladies insurance company go together and resolved the issue within a week. |
