Olympus E-500, any good?
I have been using my mom's Olympus E-500 lately, seems to be pretty good for point and shoot, but I'm no photography/camera expert. Anyone have any input (in layman terms) about this camera?

its a good start cam. As you get further in photography, depends on your needs. I started with an E510 for awhile and now I have a canon EOS 7D

Yea, I'm not looking to get crazy or anything. It does an "autofocus" thing right before it takes the pictures which is nice - I may pick one up for myself, which is why I'm asking. Are there any other similar models to look at? Is Olympus regarded as a good brand, I've heard Nikons aren't that great. What about Canon?
