That trip down memory lane put a smile on my face.
Didn't know a few things on there, such as: Uncle Phil is Shredder????? Pulp Fiction reference in Space Jam... |

1999 was 11 years ago - and I was still old then.
Bump that back a decade and then you're talking - a couple of examples: 1.) We also blew on cartridges to make them work but they were for the original NES. SNES was next gen. Our generation originated "Up up, down down, left right, left right, B A start". 2.) We were also old enough to appreciate staying up all night or skipping class for Sega Genesis binges with the original Madden and NHL or Tecmo Bowl on NES. 3.) Re: Full House - the original Uncle Jesse wore overalls, was a former moonshiner, drove on dirt roads around Hazard county in a white pickup, and had one of the hottest nieces ever. John Stamos was a pretender. Uncle Joey doesn't even rate. 4.) WWE didn't even compare to the original WWF - ours was worthy of a Saturday morning cartoon and toy spinoffs. Hillbilly Jim, Andre the giant, Hulk Hogan, Iron Sheik, and Rowdy Roddy Piper FTW. 5.) Arnold Jackson would have whooped Steve Urkel good. Webster, too. 6.) Mike Tyson when he was one of the most frightening boxers you've ever seen. 7.) EZ Bake oven was chauvinistic - but people understood that's how things should be. Also applies to Princess Toadstool. Her job was to wait for her man to set things straight and just try not to get in the way. 8.) Mario Kart as sobriety test - that was ours, more applicable to late high school and college age. 9.) Pee Wee's Playhouse 10.) Buffy - I'll give the 90's kids that one, she was fairly badass. 11.) Original Nike Air Jordans >>>>>>> L.A. Gear 12.) Bill Nye = 3-2-1 Contact 13.) Original Transformers, Voltron, M.A.S.K >>>>>>> Power Rangers or any Nickelodeon based show 14.) Our computer use for school consisted of learning how to program BASIC and find DOS directories. 15.) Fruit Stripe was still a disappointment, but we had candy cigarettes to compensate. 16.) Da bomb < Totally 17.) Your generation may know Disney ballads, but those ballads got us laid. |
