I'm pissed off about the whole thing. I understand fully what Gadaffi is like but the argument "we can't sit and watch him" only goes so far. Their are many civil wars all over the world that have been going on for years and noone gives a shit, now when oil rich Libya comes into such a situation we have countries eager to bomb the shit out of the place. Gadaffi has been there for over 40 years so why are people wanting to stop him now?

I think Gadaffi should be gone too BUT I'm just saying that I think we have to question the motives of the people behind these movements. It's the same people who took us into Iraq based on lies.

The media is so biased too. People forget that these rebels are not taking over the country peacefully with posters but instead are running around with guns and other weapons. The rebels broke the No Fly Zone themselves when they were shot down earlier today. Noone cares about this though but only see that Gadaffi's forces shot them down.

Gadaffi said he was going to take over Benghazi but innocent civilians had nothing to fear only those trying to take over the country. Noone wants to know about this though because people already see him as a dictator. I do admit though that I couldn't trust Gadaffi to not kill his own but only in the same way that I couldn't trust America or my own country to avoid killing civilians.

I know that people are going to shoot me down but remember it's not as simple as "either you're with us or them", because I don't like Gadaffi at all but I don't support many policies of other countries too (like my own).

President Obama needed this. He has been portrayed as weak by some of his opposition, and his camp knows there's some other support to be won... perfect timing to an international incident.

The American involvement will now increase business development in some defense contracting agencies.

We'll have to compare this situation to our history and look back at some of the no fly zones we supported in Iraq... this was certainly ineffective at removing Saddam, and it created more unique ways for Saddam to persecute those who the no fly zone was supposed to protect. President Obama stated that he would not deploy ground soldiers, however, not sure if any other country declared the same... leaves it open, I suppose.

Ghadaffi and his forces, like Saddam, will find other unique ways to destroy their opposition... something a no fly zone cannot protect against.

What I don't get is 112 missiles were launched at 20 targets. Almost 6 missiles per target seems a bit much considering how advanced our military is.

Some targets are rather fortified and are in need of secondary/tertiary strikes to completely destroy them.

I'm inclined to agree with you. But after watching CNN and other news channels anchors covering the Libya crisis and even the israeli PM asking "why isn't America and the west involved yet. Why aren't they taking action" I don't know what to think anymore.

If we don't do anything we get portrait as letting a massacre happen. If we get involved they simply blame us. Damned if you do/don't. That's why Obama said we'd only do air strikes and not any ground effort. Kind of the middle ground and distance ourselves from looking like we're leading this effort.
