Ever been tracked by your license plate?
A friend of mine was telling me that he had a “road rage incident” a few weeks ago and was followed for a few miles by the person. The pursuer finally fell back and was lost completely after several turns/miles and my friend made some other stops on his way home as well.
A few days ago he went to check his mail and found a letter in his mailbox addressed to him with no postage. He opened the letter and it was a violent threat from the road rage guy saying what all he was going to do if he ever runs into him again. There are a few explanations for how this – I’m just curious if this or something similar has happened to anyone else. Creepy

can't he take it to the police and have them pull up the prints and arrest the guy for making threats?
O and +1 for not running plates

he could pay some PI to do it or maybe has a cop friend or DMV friend. it's not the hardest thing to do to get info. edit: sorry, thought you were referring to the plates. n/m the cops aren't going to pull prints and get all CSI on something like this... there's really nothing to substantiate from it... unless the letters keep coming in, or something physical happens, the cops likely won't care.

My .45 HK fits perfectly in the map case in the door.

i think when it comes down to it, most people will be scared to point a gun at someone... to those who can do it easily, more power to you. i'd opt for the taser first

when i was like 17 i was driving my moms jaguar around town. I was driving it like it was stolen. Some dad with kids walking (they were on the sidewalk in no danger from me...) dude followed me into a parking lot and yelled at me. I was a toughguy 17 year old and was like wtf ever bro what are you gonna do, prove it bla bla bla...
Well he took my license plate and went to the cops with it. Cops called me the next day and were like 'Driving your moms jag much?' The officer then went on to explain that the guy could have made a citizens arrest or some shit and that i should be careful while driving a nicer car. Kinda freaked me out, thank god at the time my daily driver was a Tahoe SS. i wasnt goin anywhere fast in that thing. And clearly i've grown up since and do not drive like that anymore. |

If someone does something stupid enough to justify me pulling a gun on them, i have no problem pulling it...I got my CHL after being carjacked, and if the same thing happened today, the situation would have ended very differently.

I keep also my HK45 in the glove box and always make sure that no one is following me for the last few turns on my way home. But in this case I have to assume that he just wrote down the plate number and looked it up.
Is there any way to hide your info from the online sites and such? If he hired a cop or PI then they were in the wrong for providing a crazy person with the info. He said that he called the police and they said that unless there is a witness that they couldn’t do anything about it. IMO Cops are only good for giving me speeding tickets lol No offence meant to any LEO’s on the forum.

i just love how most road ragers are actual total pussies at heart.
even this guy, he left a NOTE saying 'if I ever see you again I'm going to ....'. You know where the guy lives, so you can very easily see him again, but you're a total pussy, so you won't. |

I've never been tracked by my license plate. But this lady hit me in the parking lot and denied it. So I got her plate number (I even told her I was going to) and I got her address from it. She lives down the street from my best friend. I'm not gonna do anything crazy, I was just gonna pop her tires or pull the valve stems off, lol.

Because I don't plan on being jacked and there are lot's of crazy people out there.
I've also been followed several times - Once just for switching into someones lane to avoid being hit by another car. I made a couple of turns and noticed that the 'truck' that I had to change lanes in front of was behind me. Made a few more turns, he's still there. So I had to lose him. Who knows what this person was up to but I don't want to deal with anyone that's dumb enough to follow someone that they don't know.

I have a friend who is a state LEO and he has access to to the state DMV database, so when I've been in a situation where there's been a hit and run/need to get the person's information I call him and give him the plate and he runs it for me.
